Buy Model Business Letters, Emails and Other Business Documents 7 by Taylor, Shirley (ISBN: 9780273751939) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: a very useful reference book - I continue to use and recommend this book when training people about business correspondence. I find it is especially useful when wanting to show how the use of punctuation in business English has been reduced, despite old ways still being taught and continued in some places across the world. I wish that more business people in the UK and overseas could have a copy of this book on their shelves. The 7th edition is more than a slight change from the 6th edition (I have both copies), which is not surprising given that the main medium of business writing has changed in recent years. I find it very refreshing that the author is now based in Singapore, one of the great business hubs of the world making extensive use of English as an international language. The “Model Business Letters, Emails and other Business Documents” book, its main parts, templates as well as indicative words and useful expressions are very helpful in order to use them when dealing with relevant situations. Also afforded invaluable business-related knowledge and information that will cling to henceforth.

Dumbs down power of words
Despite the two previous underwhelmed customers and their reviews I bought the 7th edition but was utterly disappointed. The author now lives in Singapore which may partle explain why the writing style she recommends would be more suited to an international audience whose first language is not English. She deliberately waters down what I feel are moderate and modest use of English into very basic set of words. The English language is a relatively new language therefore it affords its depth of meaning with a large imported vocabulary. As a UK businessman with clients in the UK I think my letters would sound very unprofessional if I was to follow the book's guidance. They would sound too much like junk mail, lack any distinct flavour and to be frank lose their integrity. I did however find the advice on the structure of each piece useful, although the same points were repeated too often. Sadly I will be returning this book

I'm not a native speaker, but I want to improve my written English for my work. Therefore, I downloaded and reviewed about 10 books and brought and read 5 books from Amazon. I would say I would buy this book If it's the only chance I have. This book includes all you need for business writing: grammar, the common mistake, and the examples related to your daily work. You will learn a lot from it. Also, I suggest buying a kindle version, and you can highlight the critical phases and words. You will easily search it when you need as what I'm doing.
