Nice and sharp, great shape, welded stainless steel
So it's a little smaller than you might expect, but it's the perfect size for weeding. The stainless steel blade is welded to the stainless steel shaft. Mine came with a clear vinyl cover that snaps on the head to reduce the chance of accidental cuts. It's ground sharp but not cutlery sharp. The sticker peels off pretty easily. The handle is secured to the shaft with a single rivet-like pin that protudes slightly from the underside of the handle. You can't see this in the photos. It doesn't matter. It seems like there are a dozen similar made-in-Japan weeders like this but this one is stainless and the price was right. In contrast, all the local stores have bulky aluminum claw-type or shovel-like weeders with big vinyl textured grips. This hoe takes up much less space, is light and beautiful, cuts the earth very well and hooks the loose roots so efficiently. Very pleased.

so far so good.
I'm not rough with my tools, but I'm not exactly gentle either.....our yard is full of rocks after about 2in of soil. I have been using this and a hollow hoe to clear unwanted vegetation in spots I want to build new garden boxes (gotta do raised boxes bc of the rocks) and it has held up pretty well, considering all the damn rocks everywhere out here. Came very sharp already, which I like. It's a good size too, not a foot or more long and awkward to weed with, but not too short either. Has a black painted wooden handle, very simple. If any of the above sounds like your gardening experience, then you'll probably like this item.

Best garden tool.
This tool makes weeding the garden fast and efficient. The quality is very high and it is well built with a very sharp edge that cuts into the dirt and through the roots. It was so helpful weeding around and under pavers. It’s the best weeding tool I’ve ever had.

Very Sturdy
This has become my favorite tool. It is sharp and tough. I wanted to create a tulip bed in a small area. I needed to remove the grass but I wanted to keep the dirt. The dirt was compacted and contained some clay. This helped me pull up the grass and chip away into the dirt until I could get it tilled enough to put the tulip bulbs in. It worked great on removing the grass. I don't recommend using it in big areas but great for small projects.

In Love with a Tool?!!
This weeding tool is Awesome!! I have to tell you that after years of hand weeding I realize that this was the missing link. It is a powerhouse. It is extremely versatile. With a slight bit of pressure the flat blade acts like a hoe. Scrape those itty bitty weeds that are too small to hand pull. If you add A bit more pressure, this baby can dive into the dirt to remove weeds with shallow roots with ease. I cleared out even baby violets including the tenacious roots. Pulling violets is tricky if you leave those roots. The pointed end allows you to get into tight spots that have weeds. Think iris plants. Those above ground roots are hard to weed because they grow into a twisted mass with space for invasive weeds. Use the tip to weed in and around them without damaging the iris roots. I cleared out a path in my back yard in no time. I pulled the old growth, big weeds and scraped the top of the remaining baby weeds with this tool in 30 minutes...no sweat. Look, the price is right. This is an investment that will last for years. Buy it! PS the standing Fiskar foot pressure dandelion remover is also amazing!!

Makes weeding a cinch
I use this in my raised garden beds to weed. The blade is sharp and the tool easy to use. I do a scraping motion on the dirt with it to quickly get rid of weeds. It’s small enough where I can go right around my vegetable plants easily and not harm them. Cuts my weeding time in half. I like size as it’s perfect for raised beds.

It's sharp & strong and I like the steel handle.
I bought this at the same time as the Hori Hori knife and haven't used this too much. I grab that knife for all of my weeding activities. It's easier to plunge into a weed root and use the serrated edge if the plunge fails. In fairness, my primary and biggest nemesis is Mallow, which has a horrible thick tap root. This hoe hasn't impressed me with it's ability to attack that foe.

Great quality and versatile
If you are a gardener and you don't have one of these, you are seriously missing out. There is almost no other garden tool that I use more than this one. It's extremely versatile and lasts a long time.
