Does what it says
A very beginner would find this book daunting but for some one with more experience it is a welcome change. Just remember that as with most U.S. publications in this field the crochet terms are slightly different to U.K. Projects vary from a quick -to -make scarf using this technique to a blanket. Photos for the unusual stitches are clear & the rest of the instructions are in the traditional written format. It would have been nice to have U.K. yarn alternatives listed but this so rarely happens that after some thought this can be solved. A worthwhile use of my Amazon gift vouchers & I would have bought this anyhow.

A Different Sort of Crochet
Originally I bought this book for a friend of mine on her birthday and she loved it. Once I got to have a go at doing some myself using her book, I fell in love with it as well and decided to get my own book. I have so far made three bedspreads and a fitted chair cover for a recliner chair using Bavarian crochet as the base. Whilst there are some complete patterns, the main benefit of this book is teaching the base stitch and how to use that to make squares, rectangles, triangles etc. If you are keen on crochet I couldn't urge you strongly enough to try this.

Good Book
Very pleasing book to look at, with some pretty patterns, and an interesting alternative way of doing crochet. I would say that the method is more suitable for shawls, blankets, bags, scarves rather than sweaters or waistcoats. There seems to be a glitch in the information given for the waistcoat - A Little Bit of Lovely, on page 18 - for finished sizes all it says is 'Small, Medium, Large', no centimetres or inches given, unlike the all the other eight patterns within the book. Nevertheless, a good book to have.

Disappointing Because of Supply Issues
I would have loved to give this 5 stars, but unfortunately I bought the book specifically because I adored the afghan pattern on the cover and once I received it and went to order the yarn, I found that not only was Red Heart Classic not available in the UK but it has apparently been discontinued so now I have to try to find a suitable yarn that will offer me the colour choices and shadings. Having been trying for the last 45 minutes with my favourite yard suppliers, this is not going to be all that easy.

An interesting techinique
Been Crocheting for a while now, about 40 years and this is an interesting technique. I designed a quillow (part cushion cover with additional lap quilt inside it and was very pleased with the result. Several of my friends have asked me to make the hat design which I hope to do in the future.

Something different
I found this to be a new idea in crochet. You have to be fairly experienced but once mastered the patterns you can do make a change from variations on double and treble crochet. I have, so far, only done a test piece but I think it would work well for bags, cushion covers etc.

Bavarian crochet
Excellent pattern book. I did have a bit of trouble initially following the instructions as I have not done Bavarian crochet before but once I got the hang of it, it is very easy to do. I have made a couple of throws and adapted the basic pattern slightly to make cushion covers. I am very pleased with the way this crochet makes up and will be trying several more of the suggestions.

Good book for experienced crocheters!
A lovely book which makes you want to take up your crochet hook immediately. Some of the instructions weren't as clear as i would have liked but i am one of those people who learn better from being shown rather than a book. Lovely patterns
