New and Improved
Update: I now think the width is okay, maybe a few inches would be good, but it's so good to not hang my ankles of the end anymore. I understand there are a lot of different styles of recliners out there, I've shopped around and it's hard to make "one size fits all". It was good for me. I live in Korea and don't have a lot of options for someone as tall as me. 6' 3".They've improved the way is stays on without slipping off. I just got mine on 14 May 19 and I had a note that explained the improvement by add "screw bolts" on the back side that you screw it into the back of foot rest. I would highly recommend you drill a small pilot hole the get the screws started, if not you could crack the plastic. I just wish were about 5 or 6 inches wider. With those screws in place, this baby is not going anywhere.

Great idea, but did not work for us
Great idea, but did not work for us. After about a week of use, the bottom portion of the extender caught on the rug, and the entire plastic hinge cracked into a thousand pieces.

Had To Be Modified to Fit
The foot rest extender's brace was too wide and was hindered by the hardware under the foot rest that is part of the chair. We had to cut about an inch from each side, so that it could slide in place. (See pictures) That brace is made of hard plastic and I had a concern about the brace being able to be cut without damage, such as cracking. I tried to contact the seller two times myself, and once by an Amazon representative, but I was not able to make contact. (see seller feedback) That is why I marked down Support. I hired my Handyman and he made the cuts. The footrest extender is a much better fit for my 6'4" brother than just the chair's footrest. It was the only solution I found for this problem. I would recommend it for tall people who's feet hang over the chair footrest.

Not quite what I expected, but it does the trick....
This product was smaller than I expected and it looked much "cheaper" in quality than I expected. That said, it did work for extending the foot rest on my brother's lift chair. My husband had to use different screws than what came with the extender as they were so long, they would have completely punctured through the original foot rest on the chair. However, that was only a quick trip to the local hardware store, and $1.28 later, we were in business.

No way to anchor
I sent it back because there's no way to effectively anchor the footrest on the recliner. They state that they have a fix but it doesn't work. It's just a bolt that tightens down on the recliner's leg rest. It slowly slides off the leg rest.

Once we did that it was great. Our suggestion to the manufacturer of this item ...
This solved the problem of my husband's feet hurting when the ankle was resting on the edge of the chair foot rest in a reclining position. The only problem with the extender we had was it didn't slide all the way on between the two metal braces on the under side of the foot rest so we had to mark it and cut out the corners with an electric jig saw so it would slide on the entire way. Once we did that it was great. Our suggestion to the manufacturer of this item would be to consider making the bottom slide on piece narrower to fit more models of chairs. Other than that, this is pure genius because there's no doubt in our mind the majority of men have their feet hanging off the end of the recliner.

Works well, but...
I was looking for something that would keep my feet from hanging over the edge of my recliner and making my ankles sore. After searching the internet, this was the best solution. I have to admit, it serves my purpose well. If you order one be careful when you put the screws in. They are long and will go all the way through to the front. I srewed mine in just enough to hold it secure. Only issue I have is the price. I have worked in manufacturing for 33 years and I think the price is high compared to how much it cost to make. Having said that, I am glad I ordered it and I do recommend.
