Great for the price!
This is a very fun reel to use for my 5 year old. It is a good size and had a smooth action.However, within 2 months the smoothness of the reel significantly slowed down down, such that it was impossible to make long casts, even for me.Unfortunately for me, when I tried to take the reel apart to figure out what was wrong it broke.Still would recommend for kids! Especially since it recently got even cheaper!

Great rod for the beginning fisherman
The Zebco Kids Splash Jr. Spincast Reel and 4-Foot 2-Piece Fishing Rod Combo was an excellent choice for my 5-year-old Grandson. His first time handling a fishing rod and in about 2 hours he could cast 30-40 feet. As soon as I unpacked the spincast reel I replaced the fishing line with 6-pound fluorocarbon, and casting was smooth and the line was free of snarls and twists. I like the two-piece feature because it packs-up and travels much easier. When first time on the lake with it, the grandson reeled in several Bluegill and Largemouth bass.
