Psychology Applied to Modern Life: Adjustment in the 21st Century

I didn't know what to expect when I signed up for this (online) course through my local vocational/technical college, let alone what the textbook would be like - and was pleasantly surprised by both. I found this text to be extremely readable; I'm an (older) adult student, and this is the FIRST text I kept! Several times I called my 16 yr old daughter out to read a passage because; a) it was interesting, b) it was informative, c) it was both. The book spurred very interesting and thought-provoking discussions with my classmates in our online forums - none of us ever met face-to-face, which might have been what helped precipitate such honest (and sometimes heart-wrenching) disclosures.I highly recommend this book (or subsequent editions, of course) to any instructor looking for a well-balanced, thought- and discussion-provoking text that is sure to be well-received among a broad range of students. I also highly recommend it for people who are looking for a well-rounded resource for their psychology library - because as I said, this one's a keeper.

After a huge mess with my first attempt to get this book from another seller, I needed to get it as fast as possible for class. I read a lot of reviews that shipping was fast and well before the estimated receiving date, which I'm thankful that that was the case for me as well. It is last years edition, but I read online that it is essentially the same thing. Much cheaper then the new edition too. No complaints.

This book is an excellent reference with far more information than just descriptions of varying personality theories. I appreciated the updated research, comprehensive definitions, and subject matters covered. This is a great reference for anyone working in any field especially in mental health or education, but anyone could benefit from it. I liked the display of helpful charts and pictures of theorists that provide clear visuals. The headings and subheadings are organized well. Also helpful are the end of the chapter summaries and multiple choice quizzes. I would strongly recommend this book and any future revisions of it. I do have to say that I had to deal with eye strain due to the small font.

this came fast and like BRAND NEW! so excited i saved so much on this book! there were no creases or bent pages, it barley looked used at all . there is some highlighting in the book but it helped me study! so worth it !

All the pages where present but the book was in less desireable conditions. The corners where banged up greatly and the spine wasn't in the Good condition the product was suppose to be in. I was a little disappointed but I did save over $100 getting this textbook and it does serve its purpose correctly.

This is a very well written book, considering it is college text. There is an abundance of useful information, but it's not just knowledge for graduate school. It also teaches everyday applications.If you are a psychology junky like me and also read these kind of books for fun, I highly suggest it.

This is a massive resource that will direct you to lots of other sources as well as being a fab resource itself. Really really useful.
