Q: Is the VamPLIERS Pro that much better than the regular VamPLIERS?

I own both. The pro is larger and heavier and the one I use daily. The regular version is better for finer type work.

Q: Are these any different from the Engineer PZ-59 pliers for $10 cheaper? Other than that they have green handles?

I haven't used the "Engineer" pliers and this is the first time using the Vampliers and I have no buyers remorse. These pliers (barring the cheesy name) have been impressive and have removed every screw that I have attempted, including some 6-32 button head screws that the 1/8" hex wrench had no chance of removing. Round-about answer I know but I hope this helps.

Q: What makes them so different from other pliers?

Look at the jaws. You can see they are serrated both radial and axial. That solution gives the plier an outstanding grip on almost anything. Furthermore they are made of high grade steel and are very sturdy. Watch your fingers. This one bites!

Q: Would a skeptical retired Lineman appreciate these? They are obsessed with their Klein tools

I am a retired lineman myself and I just love Vampliers. They are expensive but worth every penny. Vampliers are second to none.
