Removal of stripped or rounded wheel lug nuts
While using this tool can be time consuming, it definitely does the trick in removing rounded capped lug nuts. Many car manufacturers use the stainless steel cap instead of chrome plated ones for environmental political correctness. the lug nuts on my 2013 Fusion needed replaced after 73000 miles mainly because no one in the tire servicing arena cares enough to make sure the correct size socket and air gun pressure is used to install and remove the lug nuts. Of course they are concerned about getting sued for not having lug nuts installed correctly and having loose wheels while driving. Use of this tool requires a hammer (i used a five pound sledge) and several attempts to remove the nut. In some cases it removes the cap and then the real nut is exposed and removed with a regular socket. It is very important that you know the size of your lug nut before ordering. Although this kit has 4 sizes in it may not be the right one for your needs.

Problem Solved
In short, this thing works. Just slip it over the wheel lock, have a 1/2 inch drive and a 2 foot breaker bar and you are in business. A pull on the bar nice and slowly causes the wheel lock remover to "bite" into the wheel lock and twist it off. No need to hammer it on. This removed Mcgard locks off my 2008 civic without a hitch an on the first try.Tip: try to get the remover on evenly and apply pressure directly to it so that it does not twist and rub the hole where the lock is since it will damage the paint. The construction is solid and it comes in a tube type case that can be hung and includes the instructions.Removal is so simple that you realize how little security those wheel locks really provide when this tool falls into the wrong hands. I still installed new wheel locks to hopeful act as a deterant.

Product descriptionis misleading
I’m a big fan of Amazon and have been buying from them for years.I bought this product to remove wheel locks for which there is no key.Amazon states“Product Features• 2-piece wheel removal kit removes wheel locks and lug nuts• Fast and easy to use• Works on oil pan plugs, pipe nipples, corroded marine nuts and bolts, and exhaust manifold nuts• Includes 3/4-, 13/16-,7/8-, and 15/16-inch wheel removals• Removes nuts, bolts and screws from 1/8-to-1/4-inches, 3-1/2-to-6-millimeters, and #4 to #10; studs from 3/8-to-3/4- inches and 10-to-19-millimeters”When I opened the package and read the instructions I found the following.“For the removal of wheel locks & damaged hex wheel fasteners”And then in big letters DO NOT USE ON WHEEL LOCKS”Which is it? For the small socket which is sized 3/4 (19M) and 13/16 (21M) the design prevents the socket from gripping a normal wheel lock which has a shallow head. It works fine on regular lug nuts. The larger socket does state it is for removing wheel locks. Unfortunately my locks are the smaller size. Also, I can not see how these sockets will “Removes nuts, bolts and screws from 1/8-to-1/4-inches, 3-1/2-to-6-millimeters, and #4 to #10; studs from 3/8-to-3/4-inches and 10-to-19-millimeters”Had the description been accurate and truthful I would not have wasted my time and money.

Great Tool, But Only for a Few Uses
This tool works, on lug nuts and other large bolts/nuts. But there are some 1 star reviews here, mixed in with 5 star reviews. What you need to know is this: $100.00 isn't really expensive considering you get 4 extractors in this set. If you're in the crummy situation of having a stripped lug nut, you'll do almost anything to get it removed. Some say the sockets only last one or two uses, at which point the edges of the inner "mushroom" get worn out. In my case, I've used the same socket about 3 times, and at this point I feel it is unreliable (dull). So I paid about $8.00 for each successful use - not bad, in my opinion. The directions say don't hammer it - what I do is try a few times without hammering, if unsuccessful, I then hammer it on lightly. Can't hurt at this point. I find light hammering is needed most of the time. Just don't reach for the hammer right away. DON'T reach for the impact gun right way. DEFINITELY start by hand, using the breaker bar. You must have some PATIENCE with stripped or rounded bolts. The ultimate in frustration, but trust me-with this tool and some patience, you can remove the stripped lug nut and move on with the job!

Flawless Success on Wheel Locks
Great plan to swap out my regular wheels for snow wheels on an unusually warm Michigan day. First attempted "lug" to be loosened a McGard week lock. The "key" stripped in the key, leaving metal in the lock. Ordered the SK 920 Turbo Socket Wheel Removal Set and followed the directions (DO NOT put a hammer to this socket!). It tightened down immediately, grabbing hold of the lock and getting firmer as I increased torque with a breaker bar. All four locks came off without difficulty and with zero damage to the Turbo Socket. A great product.

Absolutely saved me with my 2013 BMW mcgard wheel locks
This set saved my ass when I over tightened my 2013 BMW mcgard wheel locks. I broke 4 keys trying to get them off, my fave mechanic wouldn't touch it saving mcgard is the devil, and BMW dealer wanted over 1000 to drill the lug nuts out.I won't lie it was still difficult to get the lugs out. I had to dreamed off the mcgard security spinning collars on the lugs first before these would work. But that two hours spent was a heck of a lot better than paying someone to drill out these awful wheel locks

Too Small For Small Car Wheel Locks
These seem to be well-made but not exactly universal. I bought them to fit the locks on the wheels of my 1985 Mustang, which is a small car but the largest socket was too small to be close to fitting. The Mustang itself is small so what about larger cars? It needs a couple larger sizes to be universal. I ended up using a pneumatic punch to remove the locks so these sockets were a waster expense. I am hoping for some future need but I'm not holding my breath!
