These lights are the correct shape for the 2008-style 451 Smart Fortwos. But, the tabs don't quite go in cleanly. You'll need to do a lot of pushing and maybe a little trimming to make these fit really nicely. Also, the online wiring directions do not match the product. The shipped item has only two wires, one of which has a label saying it should be connected to the fuse box accessory connection. If you know Smart cars, you will fear doing that. The fuse box is essentially inaccessible in the driver's side foot well. It's hard enough to change fuses, much less pull it to work on it. (I have done that. If you break a wire, you can kill the car.) You might think you can use the existing fog lamp wire. Those are the two connectors hanging loose behind the front bumper. Don't count on those being fully routed to the fuse box unless the car was to be equipped with fog lights. The instructions for this product say to wire to the battery, and then connect a blue control wire to an accessory wire under the hood. You know the people who put this together didn't know Smart cars because they refer to the front area as the "Engine Bay." There is no engine there. Also, unfortunately, the blue wire mentioned in the instructions does not exist. The "module box," which you might assume contains fuses is empty, and is only. a junction for the wires and, apparently, an inverter to power the lights. To make these lights work, y ou'll have to find another accessory wire that is on when. the car is on, and (important) is fused properly. I'm adding my own fuses just in case. This is very definitely not plug-and-play.

The shape and design is correct for a perfect fit. However the tabs will not go into the bumper far enough to latch without significant trimming of the plastic lip on the front side of the bumper. The trimmed material is hidden by the bezel once completed but still this product is not plug and play by no means.

The connectors in the image look like they are compatible with the existing wiring for the fog lights, they are not. Plan to make a full installation.
