Bought based on Cook's Illustrated recommendation--great buy!
So I ordered these because I wanted to spatchcock a chicken. (My husband and I like chicken and I think his inner 12 year old really likes saying "spatchcocked.") It worked really well to cut out the backbone and was super easy to detach the blades to clean it. It has some other features that I don't particularly care about, but who knows when I'll need Poultry shears AND a screwdriver. See the metal tips at the end of each handle? Yep, flathead screwdriver. It also has a nutcracker and a bottle opener. It might also help you fight off zombies...it seems to have everything else going for it. Anyway, it was a good price here. Sur La Table didn't carry this one, but of course had others that were more expensive and didn't have the extras.

Love the Scissors; Hate the Packaging!
Very nice shears and extremely sharp, which is what I was looking for. I'm left-handed but husband is right, so I appreciate that these scissors can accommodate both of us. My only complaint is about the packaging not the product. I am constantly amazed (and extremely frustrated) that manufacturers continually package their product in the most insidious ways as if they were designed to never allow access. It took me 10 minutes and numerous tools (the pair of scissors I was replacing, a sharp knife, screwdriver and finally a razor blade) to finally get to the scissors; the whole time worrying that I was going to cut off an appendage doing so.

One pair of scissors for the rest of your life.
My wife and I bought these for my 28 year old daughter as a Christmas present. I've owned a pair of these scissors for 26 years and have never sharpened them, that's why my daughter wanted a pair of them. They will cut through almost anything. I use mine for hard plastic packaging, card board, chicken, vegetables. I used them while wrapping presents this year and just slid the scissors through the paper. You will not find a better scissor anywhere.

Easy to clean but they broke.
I thought we had a winner in Kershaw but the handle broke just like the the cheaper shears without the name. The handle is just plastic so it won't take a strong grip that my wife apparently has in her 67 years. Very disappointed because I have Kershaw knives and recommended these to her but we will replace them with something that has a stronger handle.

Oh the places you will go
These are a little expensive for the typical pair of kitchen shears but these are not shears, they are small swords disguised to look like shears. I have never really been a shears person as I typically default to knives but I recently upgraded our knife game and when looking up some fancy tools to add, I saw a lot of people swear by shears so I figured I would try adding a pair. But I hate buying something only for it to break or not cut through something...which defeats the purpose of buying them. So I found this pair and while I have not used the many swiss army knife functions of them, the shears alone have impressed me. Sure, they can probably crack nuts but I buy them pre-shelled. Sure they could probably open jars but that seems a little dangerous with miniature swords awaiting the moment I may slip. Sure they have a bottle opener but I have many in my kitchen that are often more available and easier to use. I have used the screwdriver ends and while its better than nothing, it does not replace a screwdriver by any means. So why 5 stars? I feel like I could cut through small branches with these things! Are these shears or tree loppers designed to look like kitchen shears?! They are extremely durable and sharp and I have not found anything they would not cut through yet (I admittedly have not tried tree branches or anything outside of the kitchen, that was just a feeling). They are also very easy to take apart to clean which is another very important factor for kitchen shears. If you buy these, buy them because they are high quality, not because of all of the features you will likely not use. If you are not familiar with Kershaw, they are known for their high quality pocket knives (they clearly make more than pocket knives) so while these shears are not Wusthof or another huge culinary name brand, Kershaw is known for making things that cut and these are very high quality without paying $50+ for another name or without having the style that do not come apart for easier cleaning for almost the same price.

Razor sharp, easy to clean.
One reviewer was complaining that the shears come apart too easily. I have yet to experience this, and in fact find I have to be quite deliberate when I'm taking them apart. So, that is not a valid concern.I use the shears to trim fat off of chicken and beef. It put my previous 2 shears to shame; there was simply no contest. I wish I had purchased these sooner.I've also used them to cut the top off of a plastic jug, open packaging, and various other uses. They are well balanced. You can balance them on your finger easily just past the handle is the midpoint for the weight, which means the handles have nice heft and feel, along with excellent grip.Another reviewer also complained about being able to get their fingers into the openings. I'm 6'1, and over 200#, and had no problem fitting my fingers in or out of the handle. These are a joy to use, and are clearly well designed and built to last.

Excellent for garden harvesting and cooking tasks.
Excellent shears for harvesting garden crops, with a superior cutting edge. These were my go-to tool all this summer and I wish I had purchased them before now. The detachable blades make cleaning easy, though I occasionally separate them in error, but that is more my carelessness than a product defect. I've used a variety of other shears over the years, these are the best I have encountered.October 2017: Another summer of use, and I'm still very pleased. I did have to sharpen them recently to keep the edge in top condition (using a scissor sharpener, finishing off the job with a diamond hone). They remain absolutely one of my favorite tools for both kitchen and garden. No issues whatsoever with rust, and these have not been babied by any stretch of the imagination; they've frequently been left in the sink. The detachable blades make thorough sharpening easy.
