This is a heavy-duty garlic mincer/presser. It is very durable and of good quality. I like the design as it has a built-in cleaner that pushes out the shelves. The compartment is large enough to hold several garlic gloves. The handles are grippy. This presser works great and I know it has good durability. I truly like the design of this garlic mincer.

I bought this to replace a 15 year old Calphalon garlic press. The Calphalon handle broke in half. I like this OXO press. I can put more garlic into the press, it's easier to clean and built better. It may be slightly more difficult to crush the garlic with the OXO, but certainly not bad.

I've been using this for two years before I wrote this review. Disclosure: I usually chop off the hard/woody bottoms of garlic in general.Fresh or frozen garlic stands no match against this OXO garlic press. After two years of heavy use it seems to be holding up fine.Typical use looks like this... Throw 1-3 cloves of garlic in. Close and press. Open, throw 1-3 cloves more garlic in. It does not seem to get clogged.Once I am done crushing said garlic, I take a knife and run it parallel where the crushed garlic comes out of to free any stringy bits before the next step. I then use the red grid grate thing by folding it inversely to clear the metal grate.A quick scoop of the garlic holder with a finger and you can throw that in your food or throw it out.The only minor hassle I have is if I want to add more then a few cloves to something and do not want to set it down. But other then that it's a great product. And has help up well!If the grates look generally clean I leave it on the top shelf of my dishwasher and it comes out clean, no problems -- unsure if it's "really" dishwasher safe but I do it.

Very effective and easy to clean garlic press. It has a good weight to it that allows you to easily press garlic. The non slip handles are pleasant to use.

After reading some of the reviews, and some of the answers, it looks like this garlic press has gone through some changes. . . .but they are using the same listing.The current metamorphosis of this garlic press is quite heavy. It’s actually 14.4oz, so almost a pound. Though it looks like stainless. . . it’s not. . it’s zinc. The handles are thick and firm. Makes for a nice grip to press the garlic through.You do not have to peel the garlic with this press. If you do not peel it, then you’ll need to remove the “skin” after each press before pressing more.Invert the top handle to push excess garlic / skin back through the holes to clean. But before you do that, you’ll want to scrape-off the garlic you pressed through on the front of the press.This garlic press is Made in China. So at the current price of almost seventeen bucks, I think it’s a bit expensive. But it works well and I really like it. Simple. . . and easy. I have used several other garlic presses, and I like this one the best.
