Okay, so my brand new couch was pilling really bad, and I was really upset, especially since this is the couch that replaced the first one that was pilling, so the store wouldn't do anything about it. Someone suggested I get a fabric shaver and get rid of the pilling myself. I was very skeptical. I really didn't believe a fabric shaver could do it, since it was so bad, and I never had any luck in the past using the cheap little ones on my sweaters. I WAS SO WRONG! This shaver is the best purchase I ever made. After reading the reviews out here I purchased this one due to the large containment compartment, and the fact that I could plug it in or use batteries. When it arrived I plugged it in and just went to town on my couch! It's amazing! The pilling is completely gone and my couch looks brand new again! The unit worked great. At one point it started to slow down, but that was just because the containment compartment was full. As soon as I emptied the compartment it went back to full speed. I had no issues at all. It's very easy to use, and unless you are an amazon using fierce pressure I can't see how you could rip a hole in any fabric. It's so smooth and light to hold. Very easy to move over the surface. It even worked perfect around the uneven surfaces like the corners and ribbing (cording) of the couch. I seriously can't believe how well this worked. I'm still mad at Carsons for not doing anything about the couch they promised wouldn't pill this time, but this great little fabric shaver has lessened that pain a lot. I highly reccomend purchasing this unit if you have large surfaces to 'de-pill'! Works great! High quality product, great value, well worth the money!

I really love how well this little shaver works. This is probably the 4th one of these I have bought and I will probably buy another one when this one dies. I have never used the battery so I don’t know how long or how well it works with batteries, but I do know I’ve used the same corded one I have right now for over 3 years and it still does an excellent job of shaving away lint and fur balls. Highly recommend

Work well on sweatshirts and sweaters . Did not work well on carpeting.

The version I purchased does include an AC adaptor and it works fabulously! I love wool and I love cashmere and I love knit sweaters but darned if the very fabrics that I love don't get pills and lint in the blink of an eye! This handy dandy little shaver was just what my sweater stash needed! I plugged this bad boy in the night that I got it and did sweater after sweater after sweater! After more than a month and multiple uses my sweaters look great and the shaver continues to work fantastically! I have not had a single problem with the shaver at all! Some items to note: *It takes time! Go slowly over your clothing. For heavily used garments it's going to take more than one pass to remove the lint. Slowly move the shaver at various angles. *Your sweaters won't look brand new! Wear and tear it happens. *If you here a kind of popping sound as you're going over your garment not to worry, this generally occurs when it is plucking a large pill off. UPDATE 1/2013 - A year later and this bad boy is still rocking lint / pill removal! The only issue that I've had with it to date is that the connector that attaches the power adapter to the base is a wee bit loose. I just have to make sure that it's firmly seated before I get started. All in all though not one regret. I use it at least a couple of times a month and it still does a fantastic job!

This is a good quality product and worked like a charm. We bought it because we read another review that said it worked to remove lint balls from a couch......it worked beautifully.

I thought this would be the answer to my sweater fuzz problem, but it is another dust collector instead. It works pretty well if you just have a small area that you need to defuzz, but if you are doing a whole sweater, you need to allow yourself ALOT of time. You have to go very slowly in order to get the fuzz picked up......if you go quickly, you have to go over & over it forever before you get it done. I am just disappointed in the quality of the results in relation to the price. I could have purchased a whole lot of razors for what this baby costs.......and would have done the job in about the same amount of time. You also have to be very careful not to cut a hole in your sweater......if you turn the head at an angle instead of flat, it can take a chunk out of your garment before you know it. It is nice that it is electric, rather than battery operated, and it seems to be plenty powerful, just as long as you go slowwwwwwwly. Would I order it again? Definitely not. Would I recommend it? Keeping these things in mind, if you're ok with spending alot of time to get the job done, then I guess I would.

I read the reviews and looked around and decided on this model. I paid less for it than what's currently listed. I have not had any problems with it and I've used it on at least a couple dozen sweaters thus far. I've used them on cotton and cotton blends, wool and wool blends, cashmere and cashmere blends, and acrylics. It does a great job of removing pills and makes the items look refreshed and renewed. As far as removing fuzzing, it did fair job. I haven't used it with batteries but one of the main reasons I purchased this model is because it comes with the AC adaptor. Yes, the cord is a little short and yes, the plug is a bit clunky but they make these things that are awesome and they're called extension cords. I've found working on a table where the item can be laid out flat and putting the extension cord with the plug on the table helps a lot. On areas where I need to go over a second or third time I will sometimes put my hand under the item to get a little more contour to run the shaver over. You can't be in a hurry to get your things de-pilled. Don't push down, just move the shaver over the areas you need refreshed and the shaver will do the work. Make sure you empty the collection bin and clean the razor area often. A clogged shaver won't do you or your sweaters any good.

I have used it on fine merino, and silk sweaters with no problems. You do not need to apply heavy pressure.

It does the job its supposed to do and does it with ease. I like that its 110v plug in operation versus some battery operated, under powered appliance.
