I'm a 33 year old former Marine, retired amateur power lifter who works as a residential home builder. I have two back injuries that have made my heavy compound lifts painful for the past ten years which have only been exacerbated by the asymmetric lifting you have to do in the construction industry.I've always been a raw lifter, white knuckle through the pain and work on your form and rehabilitation so you can do it on your own. I went from a PR deadlift of 515lbs at 178lbs to a max deadlift of 415lbs at 210lbs as the pain increased and my form and workouts suffered.Introduce the FireTeam Fit weightlifting belt. So simple even a Marine could use it. Following my military training I ordered four, fully expecting to eat one, lose one, and break the other. I have no pain, none. My thoracic stability is incredible. All the minor issues that accumulated trying to minimize the pain are slowly going away. In two working sessions I increased my working weight by 50lbs squatting and 65lbs deadlifting. If there was a way to give six stars I would, and the mission of the Fire Team Fit crew to help support transitioning veterans is incredible. This is the first and only purchase I've made from the team, but they're going to be the first place I go if I ever need more gear or want to replace this incredible piece of equipment. So here's the negative part of the review; the Fire Team Fit squad claims that this belt is only $33.99. Believe me when I say this piece of gear is going to cost you several hundred dollars by the time you've factored in all the additional expenses. As your squat and deadlift working weight goes up, all those pants that used to fit so comfortably are going to rip like a modern day Lou Ferrigno turning into the Hulk. Those shirts? Yeah, those snatches and clean and press are going to make your upper body look like a kite. If you have a home gym like me you're going to have to invest in even more plates as your maxes continue to rise beyond what your pitiful collection can support. I've had to explain all this to my wife and, trust me, it can be a hard sell. Add in those marital counseling sessions and this has turned into one of the priciest pieces of training equipment I've ever owned....and I'd do it all over again. Thanks Fire Team Fit

Great belt for lifting heavy objects...like my dog!
I actually bought this for a very specific purpose not having to do with going to the gym. I have an 85 lb yellow lab who is 10 and has arthritis. Stairs have become a huge issue and sometimes he just can't make them up them alone. On those occasions I have to carry him (or at least provide serious support). In the past I have hurt my lower back (which is prone to problems) trying to get him up the stairs. I got this belt to simply wear when I need to lift him. I've now used it once for that and I have to say that it really did provide the needed support and my back did not hurt after carrying my dog. It's very lightweight, yet extremely sturdy and the velcro belt cinches easily and holds firm. You should remember that when you order, your size is not your waist size. Measure around your gut at belly button level. I am a 29" waist, but around my midsection I am a 33". I went for the X-Small even though I was right on the cusp and I believe I made the right size choice. I make the belt very snug and although because I'm at the high end of the X-Small size I only get a bit of the velcro closure, it holds great.

Solid belt for the price
I did a lot of research on neoprene belts and settled on this one. The added width in the back is not necessary, but it does add stiffness to the belt, which was a common complaint on other 4" belts. The locking pin is plastic with ridges on it that doesn't make it that easy to cinch tight. I'd prefer they used stainless steel (like one of their competitors) for more robust design. All in all, it is comfortable and supports well during squats and deadlifts. Quality of workmanship is great. Not a single flaw or loose thread end.

Great belt, well-built
I have a 37-1/2 waist where I put the belt (slightly above the love handles), and as I'm on the heavy side but on my way to losing weight, I purchased size Small, as I wanted the belt to fit snuggly. It does fit snuggly (as it's supposed to), the Velcro gripping a good three inches when I strap it on, and this Velcro is not going to come loose, and there's plenty of more gripping Velcro for when I slim down. In front there's a gap where the two ends of the belt meet at my navel of one inch, so meaning that the ends don't overlap. This size is perfect, and I spend so much detail on sizing as it seems to be the item that most people messed up when ordering. Belt is very well constructed, nice stitching, as has been noted by others, and it's light weight even while providing a powerful 'cinching' effect. I like the metal buckle with the rolling tube, nice touch. I'd heartily recommend for the at-home weight lifter, or gym warrior. I had wondered about the raised padding design on the back, and now I realize the belt is so light-weight that those provide a stiffened back so that the belt spreads the force evenly across the belt back; again, a nice touch. Moreover, if this is the quality of other Fire Team Fit products, I'd probably purchase from them again.
