Doesn't fit the lens hood
This has space to fit the 200-500 Nikon lens but is cramped up and doesn't fit the lens hood . If you have cam coat on the lens becomes really sloppy.

Simply outstanding
I did not purchase this from Amazon as I was unable to source one direct from them and so went to Lowepro direct. I feel that this monster of a case might be in short supply as the Tamron 150-600 is now widely available and competitively priced. Both my lens and case arrived and are now united. I have to say that both items are superb. On examination, the bag is quite big with a large opening accessed by removing the lid which closes up via smooth a zip. The case lining is made from an impervious material which should make water ingress via the fabric difficult; I would add that this will also prevent any moisture leaving the case and therefore your lens has to be very dry before storing it. My Tamron 150-600 fits into this "cavern" with ease; even with the hood fitted and incredibly the tripod mount too. The lid of the bag has a mesh bag which currently holds a 95mm Polaroid filter in its case, but could hold a large Cokin filter and holder. The padding which protects the lens from knocks and bumps, is thick and you feel that it will protect the lens well. The bag weighs just over a pound and combined with my Tamron and 2 filters weighs a shade under 3kg. This needs to be considered when you have to carry it on a long treck or as part of your airline hand luggage. The outer fabric is water resistant and I think would keep the lens bone dry except if it is submerged in water. To carry the case there is a strap to carry the lens over a shoulder, a handle for carrying by hand and a further Velcro/strap to attach it to a Lowpro system. So is it worth the five star rating? Most certainly, I would not carry my lens around without being properly protected and I feel somewhat reassured that my new lens travels with me snug and secure and attached to my bag. Outstanding item.

great other than the carrying strap
Bought to carry a Sigma 150-600 Contemporary lens whilst out-and-about. The lens fits nicely, slightly loose which aids getting it into/out of the bag. As others have observed the supplied shoulder strap is slightly ridiculous, only 26mm wide with no shoulder pad. However, the strap is simple to remove, leaving two plastic hoops onto which you can clip the strap of your choice. But for the premium asking price I don't expect to pay extra because of the bought products inadequacies hence the reduction to 4 stars.

Just recieved today for my Nikon 200-500 and fits like a glove
Just recieved today for my Nikon 200-500 and fits like a glove. As you would expect for any lowepro bags this does the job as stated and incorporates the slip lock system so it can be easily attached to larger bags or used as a stand alone. Recommended, especially at this price. It even takes the hood (see picture).

Fits Sony SEL200600G Lens but its tight.
Bought this in the hope it would fit the Sony 200-600 G Lens and whilst an extra 1cm would be nice it is possible to zip the lid up with the lens in (Hood reversed). Probably will not if you have any filters attached although there is the potential to easily replace the very thick bottom padding with something thinner to allow this. After some searching quite glad I went with this.

Finally I can get rid of the huge box my lens came in!
My new Nikon 200-500 is a superb lens, but the dust sack that comes with it affords the lens almost zero protection (an understandable trade off since the lens comes in at a surprisingly decent price). However, this Lowepro bag feels like it was made for it. Very well padded with lots of straps to carry / attach to another bag, etc. If there's a better bag out there for the Nikon 200-500 I'm yet to see one.
