Works perfect for Oetiker clamps
Used this on several hose clamps and the CV axles on my CanAm Maverick X3. Both cuts off the old clamps and cinches-up the new clamps just right. Great tool for the price.

Nice, high quality tool!
High quality tool! They work well to crimp or cut Oteiker clamps. I used them to make some custom fuel lines. The real key is using the righr sized Oteiker clamp for the project. Oteiker clamps come in a very large variety of sizes, you need to measure the OD of the hose with the fitting inserted and then select the clamp.

Good Tool
In all honesty, I have yet to use the pincers. Since they are Oetiker , they are quality built. The only drawback that I can fore see is that the side pincers appear somewhat narrow. This is understandable since they share the same head with the perpendicular pincers, however, this may not present a problem because the ears on most pinch clamps are not overly wide and this should require only careful placing of the pinchers over the ears.

Great pilers for great clamps
The difference between the oetiker stepless clamps and regular hose clamps is really unbelievable. The oetiker clamps are faster and easier to put on yet hold so much better. I can see why they use these for things like air and beverage hoses. These are the only clamps you want to use when dealing with 100+psi pressures. This is the tool you will need to use them. I prefer this side jaw tool to the available end jaw tool because it works in tighter spots. You can close the clamp parallel to the hose rather than coming in at a 90 degree angle to the hose. The side jaw is well worth the extra few bucks it costs.

How can these side jaws really work on an Oetiker clamp ?
These pliers are fine for lighter-duty clamps using the FRONT jaws. However, the SIDE jaws have an issue: since they only meet parallel in the fully closed position, how can they evenly pinch down the ear on an Oetiker clamp, since: (1) the clamp is never pinched down to zero margin, and (2) the jaws are at quite an angle when they first contact the ear. The result is the inner part of the jaw makes first contact at a point on the ear and pinches it much more there. In fact it cut through that portion of the ear in the squeezing process. I did not have clearance under the car to flip the pliers around and pinch the other side of the ear as well.Bottom line is one tool cannot do both types of actions without some kind of slip hinge to provide two pivot points. For larger clamps, such as those on outer CV boots, you need a heavy-duty pair with the 1/2" drive holes in the handle for breaker bars to generate the necessary leverage.
