Great device, I use it in a way it ...
Great device, I use it in a way it wasn't designed for, however it covers my needs well. I use it in the front of my truck to carry Kayaks with a 5th wheel. It's solid, takes the weight extremely well. I'm much happier with it than I am with the Thule setup to hold load bars into my truck. Since going to this I've had less issues with my bars moving.

Cheaply made!
Absolute piece of junk. Get the bed extender from Harbor Fre*+ht for $200 less. You're welcome.

Keep looking not the cat's meow.
I think the product is to costly for what you get, not impressed with it, should have done more research and looked for something better. Its not sable at all without using the tie downs, must be a better design out there. Your supposed to be tying the boat down not the bracket then the boat. Its just metal and could be built for a fraction of what this costs.

Works great on my Tacoma
I didn't want a permanent rack system on the truck for my paddle board. It's easy to assemble and put on/take off the vehicle. Was delivered with a missing part and Amazon offered me a 35% refund. I bought a replacement part directly from Thule for about $20 so I came out ahead.

Works with Wrangler JK 17" wheels with mods
I bought this to use on my 09 2 door Wrangler JK in conjunction with a Thule gutter mount bar to carry kayaks. Due to interference from the rear gate mounted spare tire the stinger was about two inches too short for the stinger nut to line up with the receiver hitch pin hole. I had to drill another clearance hole 2" closer to the end of the stinger. Then I machined a cube of steel to fit snuggly inside the hollow stinger and tack welded it in place. Then through the new clearance hole I drilled and tapped the cube to accept a 1/2 bolt. NOTE: if your jk has the 16" steel wheels and factory tires you may not need to make any mods. The 16" tires may be narrow enough to allow the holes to line up. Can't guarentee it but worse case you have to make similar mods. A more simple solution would be just to go with a new hole closer to the end of the stinger and use a standard pin to hold it. Only problem with that would be the wobble. NOTE 2: I'm calling the part of the Goal Post Hitch Mount that inserts into your receiver a "stinger" cause that's what Thule calls it.All in all I am very pleased with this unit. It solved the problem of carrying kayaks with out having to buy a cage.Cons: The packaging is really flimsy given the heavy steel components that are inside. A major piece of the goal post was missing due to it punching a hole in the end of the box.Pros: Thule customer service was very accomodating and replaced the missing component with an overnight shipment. The unit seems substantial.

4 door jeep wrangler kayak hauler
Thule has designed a great product for hauling a kayak on a 4 door jeep wrangler with a soft top. I used the goal post carrier along with a riverside cartop kayak carrier kit with one block above windshield and it worked great. Used tie down straps on the bow and stern of the yak and one around the middle for stability. Make sure that you don't crank down too tight on the tie down straps to avoid any damage to the soft top or framing. You could also use a light bar for the front of the yak for increased stability and avoidance on any potential soft top damage. FYI, make sure your kayak is long enough for this to work. My kayak is 13 feet long. Shorter kayaks may not be long enough for this solution. Great product otherwise.

May be good, but never found out.
I ordered this because I like the quality of Thule's products, but it arrived damaged and with nearly all of the parts missing. I shipped it back and had a replacement sent, which was prompt, but again the package was already open, damaged, and while some of the parts were there many were still missing. Sent it back for a full refund and ordered it through a local supplier instead.

Great for transporting canoes and lumber
Works like a charm. With the factory roof rack bars so close together, this accessory has made transporting 15’ - 18’ canoes way more practical.

Works well on Toyota Tacoma!
This worked perfectly on my Toyota Tacoma. I used some foam pieces for my roof, and put foam cylinders on the rope everywhere that the rope touched my paint. The use of ratchet straps had the canoe VERY secure for a 4 hour trip north.

not really useful for kayaks under 15ft
Way over priced, not really useful for kayaks under 15ft. Great for hauling ladders, material, etc.

Good Product as described
Good Product as described. arrived on time. I would have given it a five but I was under the impression it would fit two Kayaks. Very tight fit.
