Adams USA Trace Field Hockey Shin Guards

I received the Trace shinpads a few weeks ago and have played a few games of pick-up in them, as I wanted to give them a decent go before writing a review. I have to say I'm impressed! A bit of a breakdownPackaging - standard plastic packaging. Nothing to write home about but if you're writing home about shinguard packaging there's something wrong.Fit - I'm an adult male, 5'7, short-legged with pretty big calves. I was umming and ahhing about medium vs large and glad I got the latter as the fit is perfect. Comes to just below my knee and is a good tight fit. The medium would be too small I think. If you're unsure about sizing and don't have access to this product in-store, my best guess would be to try on some foam shinguards at a martial arts supplier. These are built very similarly. I also like the footstraps over normal slide -in-sock versions, and they haven't budged even after some robust running.Protection - the key reason to buy these! The foam provides very adequate protection, and since it goes all the way up to below the knee gives good coverage against stray flying balls. I especially like how the pad extends the protection to the ankle bones. I was a bit wary it might get in the way whilst sprinting but no problems at all.Value - definitely good value. These are much cheaper than the standard slip-in ones like Grays and feel like they'd provide just as much protection. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is that you can easily take out slip-in shinguards, whereas you'll have to take off you socks for this (though understandably, it's the nature of the design and you're trading convenience for fit). Recommended.

Nice and snug. Hopefully the more I wear them the less snug they get. I have overdeveloped calf muscles and finding ones that don't slip down and or cut circulation off is hard to find. Hopefully these do fine. I also like them cause they are reversible.

meh. Bought these and then returned them. They look nice but there is a plastic shield in the front that doesn't quite fit right. It might have been just a preference so I gave them a 3.because they might be fine for others.

I don't use this item for traditional reasons. I use it for my dead lifts and it works great in that application.

does the job, good for sports requiring pads

These are great, we bought size large for the whole adult field hockey team. they protect against ball and stick hits and stay put.

Really disappointed in this product. One of the guards fabric split after washing. I've had this product before without any problems.

My daughter loved them, color was great, fit nice and snug...I will be buyung more, she want's me to get different colors.
