Double duty
The FMS XL knife was pretty sharp o.o.t.b. Stropped it on a piece of leather and it became very sharp. It came packaged in a sealed clear plastic sleeve & lightly oiled over the black finish from T.O.P.S. An emergency whistle is attached to the kydex sheath. A certificate of authenticity is included. The knife fits into the sheath with an audible click. No rattling. Not loose. The handle is 5 3/8", the cutting edge is 7 5/8" and at its widest point it measures 2 1/2" in height. The blade spine is 1/8" thick. I can see this knife at a camp site doing double duty as a cook's knife and light to medium camp chore knife. I've been eyeing this knife for a couple of years now and finally pulled the trigger on it. More of a vanity buy than a practical one because I don't go camping much. Update: I ended up returning the FMS XL.

Really cool knife. But I wish, 1. It came in a stainless. 2. No coating. 3. I had gotten the smaller one!

Great Knife
Very sharp and handles well. The forward slicing motion takes getting used to, but once I did it has become my favorite prep knife, especially for vegetables. Highly recommend.

No Useful for Cooking
I own a large collection of TOPS knives, and have purchased more than 20 over the years. This knife is the only one I wish I had not purchased.The very first use, while cutting onions, the protective coating on the blade began to peel off and wound up all over the food and cutting board.Without this protective coating, the knife is very prone to rust and oxidation.This knife has no place in the kitchen. I was very hopeful and ready to love it, but it's just bad.The attached photos are the result of (3) prepared meals.Will wind up a junker knife.

Awesome knife! Super sharp! But loose grips are annoying while using it!
Knife is awesome!!! Very sharp! But the micarta handle and the rivets are loose. And the handles move Around while using. I have several TOPS knives, and they are all awesome!!!! This is the first one I've had problems with. It still works great!! But the loose grips are a bit annoying!
