Turn on, turn off, turn on and automatic moisture mode engaged
This is an easy set up, and since I was replacing a 10yr old Panasonic is was unbelievably easy.My installation required just installing it in the old box and connecting it. So a bit easier than most, but if you are replacing a Panasonic this is the way to go. My old will be installed in another bathroom as it still works great but lack automatic humidity. It is also quiet. Like the lowest or second lowest fan setting on your car quiet. The "Oh, I do here it," quiet.Build quality it there. It is good and has no rattles. The fan has a some settings to dial in or leave alone. Factory settings are fine. I see some confusion on how to activate auto moisture. If you turn the fan on it is on, turning it off turns it off, but quickly turning it back on will engage auto mode. That's it. It is the same with most manufacturers.Should you upgrade? YES! In the summer it helps cool the house, moisture is a major issue as it is, and if you are one to forget or with others who for get the fan is useless. I had another automatic in my old house and once you use it it is all you want. Think of automatic headlights, do you really want to think about turning them on and off? It is truly worth the extra money.

Works great for our bathroom!
I ordered this fan because I needed a bathroom fan that moved a lot of air. We installed it in a hall bathroom that is 5' x 8'. This is the bathroom that guests use when they come over. It is near the living room so we wanted it to NOT be too quiet and also clear out any bad air quickly. I like the motion sensor feature because for some reason, guests don't always turn the fan on themselves, and when they do they feel they have to turn it off when they leave the bathroom. With the motion sensor the fan always turns on and I have it set to run for 10 minutes after it stops sensing movement. This way it is always on when needed and clears the bathroom out quickly! This fan has three speed settings. We have it on the highest speed (110 cfm) and it is just loud enough to provide some cover noise without being obnoxiously loud. The lower speed settings are pretty quiet. This fan replaced another Panasonic fan that was the same size so it was easy for us to install. When we first installed it it kept coming on when people walked past the bathroom door. I put a piece of tape over part of the motion sensor on the door side and now it works perfectly. It only comes on when someone walks into the bathroom. No one has taken a shower in the bathroom yet so we haven't been able to test the humidity sensor yet, but I'm not sure if it is really needed since the motion sensor turns it on anyways.

Successful First Floor Retrofit
I bought this model because it was in stock. The one without all the sensors nightlight was not and I needed it fast. I installed it in a first floor master bath with 2x10 joists in the ceiling. There is a floor above. The mounting bracket prevents installation from below with a floor above. Throw it away and mount the fan directly to a joist and additional framing you'll have to install. Also, the screws for mounting the bracket are not suitable for wood. If you can use the bracket, throw away those screws and use deck screws. I wired the fan and installed the existing hose before mounting the fan to the joists and framing. The hole in the ceiling had to be a bit longer than the fan enclosure in order to tilt it into the ceiling, minor sheetrock repair followed installation.I am pleased with the fan. It is much quieter than the old "contractor special" unit and blows much more air. I have it set at 110 cfm. The noise comes from air flowing through the duct. The fan has a four inch outlet, so if your "contractor special" has a 3 inch duct, you'll need a reducer.I would have rated this fan 5 stars except for the poorly thought out mounting hardware.

Thank gosh for this unit - replaced old junky one and does so much more!
The media could not be loaded. Not only does it have a sensor for humidity and occupancy, but it’s also super quiet and amazing! It’s very pretty and doesn’t include a junkie light like the old ones did. I really really love it and it works great in our kids room who always forget to turn on the fan! It’s whisper quiet and clears a whole room in under five minutes!

Great bathroom fan! Expensive, but you get what you pay for. I'm going to order 4 more!
The media could not be loaded. Expensive, but great, strong bathroom fan. Worth every penny. High quality. You get what you pay for. I love it so much I'm going to order 4 more! Motion and Humidity-level sensitive and controlled (auto on/off, or controlled by wall switch). No more stinky bathrooms or fogged-up mirrors.Bad: Instructions for motion sensor placement are not good. The motion sensor has to be placed in the little white frosted square in the middle of the fixture facing the ground just so you know. Works perfectly when you get that right, but needlessly and frustratingly unclear in the installation instructions. I had to have my very-competent electrician over a second time to get it right.Panasonic - Please make instructions clearer for installer and laymen.

Never shuts off
The installation was straight forward and the fan is quiet and moves a lot of air however, it doesn't shut off. I'm working my way through on line forums to try and fix the issue which has something to do with the motion sensor, I think, but none if this is covered in the installation/setup instructions.UPDATE:the motion sensor is extremely sensitive and was activating the fan when anyone walked by the door in an adjacent room. I angled the motion sensor away from the door slightly and the problem went away.the fan has operated flawlessly for some time now and has reduced the humidity in the master bath drastically.the installation instructions should address this issue and the simple fix.
