Great quality video but focus lags
I've had this camera for about a week now and have been loving it ever since. I've used another "flip" camcorder and the Bloggie Touch puts it to shame. Pros: 1. Love the quick on and record. Great for spontaneous videos of the little one. 2. The touch screen interface makes it both useful and fun to use the big screen. 3. The still pictures come out brilliant, when the lighting and focus is good. 4. The battery charges up super fast and stays with you for a whole day of shooting. 5. The image stabilization is good. You can take decent video while walking around and panning too. Note that it is not optical, but electronic SteadyShot stabilization. 6. The lens is very good quality and the pictures are crisp. 7. Really like the "snap picture while recording" feature. I find myself using that feature the most. The video doesn't stall while the picture (full 12M resolution) is being taken and since the focus and exposure are usually locked well while you're in the middle of the video, the pictures come out great. Cons: 1. In low lighting, there is quite a bit of graininess and using the digital zoom makes it much worse. 2. While the lens is good quality, the auto-focus mechanism is really very slow. If you move around the camera too much before focus has locked on, the auto-focus will almost never lock. 3. What I really miss with this camera is a flash. Even a tiny one would help with low light pictures. 4. Minor annoyance: to preview a picture right after you take it, you have to go through at least two clicks. Sony could have designed it so that it always goes to the last picture taken by default, instead of the thumbnail list of all pictures/video on the device. I decided to purchase this camera over a still camera that can do video because: 1. This one is dead simple. One button to turn on, one to take video and one to take stills. This makes it both easy and quick to use. 2. This one can do 1080p video and 720p at 60fps. 3. Its under $200 and is smaller than your phone. 4. Its got internal flash and USB connector - no more SD cards or cables. 8GB is enough to get you through the day before you can come back to your laptop to dump the pictures. I decided to purchase this camera over other ones in the same category because: 1. Its got a big display and the touch screen is fun to use. 2. Its got a better lens system than the others. 3. Its got (some) image stabilization.

Clicking sound -> deal breaker
Initial impressions very positive: Sleek design Light weight Compact for pockets Touchscreen commands Integrated with Facebook and Picassa for quick uploading Very good video in sunlit or very well-lighted indoors Deal breaker: Indoor video will make the Bloggie auto-focus churn repeatedly if lighting is not bright. Upon replay of video on your computer, you will hear a loud clicking from the auto-focus mechanism throughout the video. I initially thought it was defective. However, after reading other consumers have the same problem, I see that it's an engineering flaw. So, as long as you take video in sun or well-lighted indoor settings, the Bloggie is a nice product. However, the clicking noise will make your average indoor video unusable.

Great camera for the price!
Ok, First of all let me say I have seen a lot of small cameras under $200.00 that claim HD 1080p quality video and all of them do not do this resolution really good. If your buying a camera of this lower level range don't expect a great quality 1080p video unless your in bright sunlight and you hold the camera still or use a tripod, just not gonna happen. If you want quality 1080p get a high end Panasonic or SONY. This camera is wonderful in it's ergonomics and ease of use. You don't need a manual for anything, it even is equipped with it's own internal memory so you don't have to buy a SDHC card. Taking pictures is easy and the quality is excellent. Taking video is also as easy but you will have to hold the camera sideways to get the full 16:9 aspect ratio when you view it on the TV or download to the pc. I have seen people rip SONY for this feature but let me just say get over it. It's not that bad to hold the camera sideways and record video. If you didn't like that aspect of the camera then why did you buy it? I don't find it that terrible to use at all. The menu system is a piece of cake to navigate through and has a good quality feel. I also have the Kodak playsport and i like the camera too but this camera quality wise seems a cut above. The size of the camera make it look like a phone, very cool I think. I have resigned myself to keeping resolution to 720p. I think it looks just as good anyway. I would recommend this camera to friends definitely. Update 03/2012 I am still using this camera and I think the HD quality is amazing in good lighting. I won't comment on low lighting but what camera is? The image quality is excellent and i keep going back to this camera to use instead of a few other handhelds I have. The Kodak Zx3 is another on i have which i think is also good. The video quality i got on a golf vacation weekend was excellent. Update 04/17/2012 Upgrading to 5 stars. The only complaint on this camera is a lazy autofocus but i upgraded to firmware 1.05 and it works better. i liked this camera so much i bought another one.

Great!!!!... But
I love this little camera. It does everything I want it to do and is really easy to use. It shoots video and takes pictures, Has 4GB of space which is really enough for light filming and pictures, and the touchscreen really gives you more simplicity when using it. But its all dragged down buy 3 terrible flaws. First, there is no light. While I really don't care about this one too much, it makes taking certain pictures without a flash or shooting video without a camera light can be a pain, but this camera does take pretty good low light pics and video. Second, freaking auto focus. God forbid anything walks in front of the camera when shooting a video because the freaking auto focus will go off. Its soo freaking frustrating because there is not even an option to turn it off. I will say though for pics and steady shots its okay. Finally, the stupid tripod attachment for it is on the bottom of the device. Now I'm not shooting entire videos with this thing but I do shoot some simple stuff with it and when I do, I like to film in widescreen. You when you flip the camera vertical it shoots in a vertically rectangle box that looks like crap and yet the tripod attachment is placed where it can only shot in that format. I had to buy a tripod just for this freaking camera. Overall a 3 out of 5. Thanks for reading.

Better than you might think
We bought this camera for a very specific purpose. We wanted a camera that we could use to film parkour, free running, and skateboarding with so portability was key. What we ended up with was a camera that not only performed for those purposes more than adequately but was found to be a great camera all around. Pros: The camera is very light yet felt very solid. The 12.8MP still image sensor performs very well and even catches slight movement VERY clear. The video recordings are taken in mp4 (ipod) format which all of my video editing software accepts fine. We needed to update Windows Movie Maker to get it to work with that though. Once set up, you can mark pictures and videos to be uploaded and/or emailed, then when you plug the camera in to your computer it does it for you. The USB is attached to the camera itself so there is nothing extra to carry. If you need a quick charge, borrow a USB port from a comp and get charging. The camera also comes with a USB dongle for those ports that are not in the most convenient spots. The screen on this looks fantastic. 8GBs of storage is plenty for me. If I have 4 hours of video on it and have not uploaded then I am doing something wrong. The power up time is minimal. I havent timed it but I would say its about 2 seconds from power button push to ready to shoot. Cons: The touch screen is really sensitive. Now it is not so sensitive that it causes a great amount of frustration, but in my opinion it is a little too sensitive. An option would be appreciated in which the screen sensitivity could be adjusted. That might be asking a lot, I dont know but it is just how I feel. The same could be said about the accelerometer (the thing that makes the screen adjust when you turn the camera). Sometimes I feel like I barely tilted the camera and the screen will adjust on me. Now, its not a big deal because it easily comes back. They may have made it like this to be responsive while shooting. The manner in which I take pictures and video, that amount of sensitivity is not necessary. The USB dongle that comes with the Bloggie is a little short. I am not sure if it will actually make anything better if plugged in to a front USB port on a full size tower PC. Unfortunately in retail, its not the thought that counts. Summary: If portability is the name of the game then this camera provides a lot of options at a decent price. Of course there are better cameras on the market that will do one thing much better than this camera but the Bloggie does all sorts of things really well. At the time of this review Amazon was selling it at 155 dollars, Prime eligible and worth every penny.

Don't waste your time, spend more $ on a better camcorder
Where do I begin? This camera has so much potential. Cool touch screen, light-weight and compact, and full 1080p.....but.....one huge problem, THE AUTO FOCUS!! If you like waiting 10 to 15 seconds for your camcorder to focus, then this one's for you. Sometimes it would focus 6-7 times in a 2 minute period. Also shoots horrible in low lighting, very grainy and dark. Speaker is on the top where your finger goes, so if you're not careful you could cover it and have muffled sound on your videos. If you are buying this to take it on a vaction or to film outdoor events, such as sports, this is not for you. I also bought 3 mini HDMI cables until I found one that was compatible. (Not all mini HDMI cables work with this.) It's a shame, I really wanted to like this camera but sadly I really disliked it. Spend more money and get a real camcorder like the Sony HDR-CX150. (awesome camcorder)

Amazing video and FPS for the price for sports
I had been selecting a camera for quite some time for action sports footage and high quality scenery videos without having to pay a high price. The only things to keep in mind is, first: that the quality in low lighting is obviously not so great. Second, like many other reviews say, the auto focus is a bit laggy. I use the camera for filming underwater with a waterproof case and mostly for filming longboarding and skating sessions. The quality is amazing when the camera is well focused, if you are recording a quick motion like skating in my case, you need to give it some time to focus before you actually start recording or else the video will be somewhat blurry and you won't be able to tell when you watch it on the cam because the small screen always looks HD regardless. It can record amazing quality at 1080/30 FPS or at 720/30 FPS as well as 720/30FPS, great for slow mo editing. This camera is a great buy for the price and for its quality, it has yet to let me down and can compare to many professional cameras out there.

Sony Bloggie Touch Camera, 4-Hour (Black)
Awesome camera! I love this camera and Amazon once again proved themselves with the great price and fast/reliable delivery. This camera looks great and has a very elegant design. The big touch screen is beautiful and functions very smooth. The camera takes excellent pictures and video including very nice quality high definition. I use a 50 inch LCD TV to view the video and even with that size screen the HD is smooth and brilliant. I love how the camera has built in USB which makes connecting it to a computer easy and fast. You can use the extension cable but it even if you don't have anything other than the camera you can connect it to any computer. Overall awesome camera for the price and ordering it on Amazon makes the experience fast and easy!
