My least favorite Richo book
I absolutely loved "How to Be an Adult" and "How to Be an Adult in Relationships". The writing was powerful and concise in those books and led to meaningful change in my life. I have never been able to get into this book though, and I wish I could. I just can't follow it. It feels like he is trying to make more out of synchronicity than is really there. I'll keep trying, but I think this book just isn't as good as his others.

Guidebook for understanding life.
This book is truly inspirational. The author works hard to build a complete picture of just how important awareness of coincidences (synchronicity) are in helping people understand what Life is all about. This is the perfect text for a serious book study discussion group. To top it all off, I bought this book because of several major coincidences that chained into my finding it. I've since bought copies for friends and pleaded with them to read it.

Awesome book when you're searching for things in life
This is an easy-to-read and powerful book for anyone who wants to be more "in tune" with what the Universe has in store for their lives and more in touch with their true integrated self. And by that, I don't mean to suggest that it's full of a bunch of superstitious mumbojumbo, but rather that it may help you focus on real potentially-meaningful sychronicities that come your way. The well-known father of Analytical Psychology, Carl Jung, had much to say about the importance of meaningful coincidences in attaining a fully-developed and happy "Self", and the author of this book does a great job of explaining this in a straightforward way. I also thought there was good advice along the lines of there being a time and place for everything, and that sometimes people or situations come our way for a specific reason, and once that reason has past, it is important to let go. Anyway, a very interesting and well-written text for all my fellow "searchers" out there! Definitely worth the price!

Interesting ideas to explore
I like David Richo's thinking and his ability to assist the individual to truly think about and understand their personal experiences and how we relate to others and the world around us. Buy one of his books and see if you like his style. I did and I ended up reading all of his work.

Too deep
I was expecting something different, thought it would be easier for a lay person could relate to and understand .

This book was not for me
First, I cannot say whether this book would be a benefit for you or not but it was not useful for me. I will try my best to explain my opinions with hopes that it will help you. Let me start with the reasons I did not like the book. I abhorred the writing style, disliked the use of quotes, and did not obtain any useful information.Let me clarify...the writing style of the author is verbose and flowery. Many paragraphs could have been reduced to one sentence. For example: "...the Scene conveys in metaphor how our receptiveness to spiritual messages leads to embodiment of transcendent purposes in us. Mary, symbolizing the willing ego, says yes unconditionally and becomes pregnant with Jesus, an archetype of wholeness. Synchronicities abound in this moment: the meeting of the angelic and the human, the male and the female, the immortal and the mortal, the transpersonal and the personal, the finite and the infinite, virginity and maternity, ego and Self, limitation and wholeness. Archetypal dreamwork facilitates such combination." (Richo, pg 153)Was the last 2 sentences really necessary? If you believe it is then you will not have an issue with this authors writing style in that regards. I prefer books to be to the point, short, and sweet. My opinion is his text is excessive and at times it comes across as a bad infomercial.Another example:"Are you depleting you and destroying your self-esteemBecoming dangerous or intrusive to othersFeel-forced--kicking against the goadYield less and lessExplode in your face over and overPrevent you from trying a whole new option that awaits you elsewhereSeem anachronistic--longer in character for you at this age or at this level of consciousness..." (Richo Pg 88)Unfortunately, there are three more sentences I did not include in the last example that made me lose my patience and I felt thought to myself, "Get to the point". I also had the urge to say, "if this is you call 1-800-get-help now". Additionally, I lost respect with the authors choice of quotes. I have a hard time taking him seriously knowing that he used quotes from The Wizard of Oz and Shakespeare plays to drive home a thought. Why take from fictional work, using characters that are from an artists' imagination? He uses Carl Jung heavily in his work which made me question if he has anything original to offer of his own. For me the work did not seem consistent, to the point, and the language appeared elaborate. In regards to the lack of useful information, I felt he never gave the answer to how life show us what we need to know. Everything he mentions is all subjective. For example my interpretation of a dream may not be accurate and how will I know if I am? He uses many spiritual quotes as well such as Buddhism, Taoism, and Christianity. However, it is a space filler and not of any use to me based on the reason I was reading the book (which is to see how life shows us what we need to know to confirm our life's path). So why 2 stars and not 1? Why not the trite or proverbial comment, "If I could give it 0 stars I would", if I disliked it so much. The reason is because the book started off well. It appeared to be on the right track and then it veered off course like a derailed train. It is almost like he did not have an answer but he knew he had to finish the book so he threw in inspirational and spiritual quotes to distract the reader. I found the book overall did not flow well and lost sight of the reason it was created. Either that or the title is not correct. My interpretation of the book's message is to be loving and compassionate. Great message just not what I bought the book for. This book may be useful and filling for you but it is definitely not for me. I do not have any other books to recommend. Also I think it is best if you read the first chapter in a book store to see if you can tolerate or like his writing style. That would be the best way to know if this book is for you or not.

May not be your cup of tea.
The author borrows concepts from Jungian Psychology and dives into great depths to explain the smallest intricacies surrounding Coincidence/ Synchronicity. The book is extremely well written... infact it took me some effort and time to fully understand the eloquence of the author's words (as English is not my first language). However, the words & the tone are quite empathetic - gently nudging you to look at things in a different perspective. That said, this book also serves as a decent tool for understanding oneSelf & to bring about a personal transformation in a very subtle manner.
