Opening Fairy Doors Pretend Playset, Purple - Willow

Great for "real" fairy room that's actually built into/behind wall....
After searching all over the internet for just the right door, we decided on this. One thing we liked was that it was a door that actually opened, as opposed to the other popular fairy doors out there that stay locked shut (as only 'fairies' can open them). We wanted to take this idea a step further beyond just having a flat, picture background when the door opens. We wanted a door that opened because we wanted to build an actual, physical "fairy room" directly into our daughters wall. (On the back wall of the fairy room we built, there is a special door that only the fairy can open that leads into "fairyland." The door/frame itself is good quality - made of sturdy plastic/resin material. We unscrewed the back of the frame so that the solid back came off, leaving just the door and door frame, allowing a passageway through the doorway into the fairy room. (Otherwise the back is solid, so you can insert one of the flat background pictures that come as an accessory). It also comes with fairy dust, fairy booklet, fairy mailbox, little fence, and window (all of which we didn't use). We used our own window frames because we needed 4 matching windows that we placed directly into our daughter's wall to look into the fairy room. The only thing we wished it came with (like the other popular fairy doors out there) was a brass knocker. We thought the knocker detail just accentuated the whole look and made it feel that much more like a "real" little mini-door. As you can see in our pics, we ended up just getting and superglueing a dollhouse knocker onto the door (from Hobby Lobby for $2), which worked perfectly in the end. Our daughter loves her fairy, Belle, she named it (and her name went up on the hanging sign thats above her door), so that made the fairy officially a new member of the family! Belle occasionally leaves treats or notes for our daughter when she's accomplished something extra special, or "just because" every now and then. Although the rule from Belle's part of Fairyland is that she is not allowed to be seen by human eyes, occasionally we do see evidence that Belle is very present and active - i.e. fairy sized garden tools left out in her yard, dinner/dessert setup on her table in her yard, little fairy sized grill comes out to bbq in the summer months, holiday sticker decorations around holidays, fairy sized packages arrive at her doorstop, etc... And of course when her lights are on it means she's home. All in all, the door has been a big success!

Magical!
What an amazing, magical door! I placed it in an old phone book cubby in our house. The kids love opening the door to see the fairy (which is included, she's flat so she fits in the door). The other included items (fairy dust, stickers, window) certainly add to the magic. We painted our door red just because we wanted it that way. Our door started out purple. We also added our own tiny doormat.

Absolutely wonderful memory for my daughter!
I absolutely loved this when it came time for the tooth fairy to visit! Got it just in time for my 6 yr olds 1st tooth that fell out the same day it came. We set it up and wrote a lil note for the mailbox which she absolutely loved. We read the lil pamphlet, not really a book, but it was good that it said basically to behave and a lil info on the fairy. She put the fairy picture in her window of her bed tent so she could see it. At night all the fairy magic happened (so she thought), I put fairy dust by the lil door, left it slightly cracked like someone left it open then put some fairy dust (extra glitter I had) by her pillow where I knew she wouldn't roll all in it, and when she woke up she was soooo excited. She got a letter from the tooth fairy which she loved and it was so cute to see her run to the lil door to see if any fairy dust was there too. Definitely an exciting experience for her to remember.

Such a cute idea
My daughter loved this little door. Such a sweet gift. I did take some liberties and bedazzle it. Would give if five stars except the adhesive strips that it comes with didn't stick to the wall. I had to buy the Command brand. I have a slightly textured wall with eggshell paint. Also the stickers wouldn't stay either. I had to use Elmers glue.

My 6 year old loves it
We got this when my daughter lost her first tooth and she leaves little notes for her fairy. She is contstantly decorating and changing it around. We did use command strips to hang it with.
