A versatile tool for cooking more and eating out less
As a single person living in a small space, the Philips Multicooker is working well for me in the month or so I've had it. The ceramic nonstick surface and smooth east to clean surface have been its most noteworthy features thus far.To date I've used it for cooking rice, oatmeal, stir frying, making soups, boiling eggs, frying plantains and steaming sweet potatoes. The results have been satisfactory.Even though there is no shutoff switch there is a cancel button which I press before unplugging the machine. I would recommend using a wooden or bamboo spatula or rice paddle instead of the plastic ladles provided to stir food in the pot.One bit of a gripe is the moisture generated from the vent which can build up underneath overhanging cabinets. At least the vent directs the steam in one direction. Also the four legs lack a nonslip feature which can make it a bit slippery on smooth tabletops. Nothing a bit of vynil can't fix but thought it worth a note.Overall I'm happy with this purchase and look forward to recouping the cost many times over through the hopefully extended lifespan of this product.

Multi function. Multi space saver.
I hate stovetop "watching/standing" while cooking! I'm slowly learning to do more things, but I LOVE the moistness of the rices I've made. Way better than with the Zo I have. One Zo down. Did not have a steamer, did not have a slow cooker. One biggie is down one Yogurt maker. The slow cooker will be tried for dried beans next. Will make me a happy camper, because I prefer exotic dried beans, over canned. With that accomplished, I feel soups and stews should be a breeze. I live in small apt. even smaller kitchen. No counter space, without a cupboard above it. Unless I bought a free standing cart to use for cooking, I decided to put it on the ceramic stovetop, and plug it in. The hood vent allows the steam to go up, instead of damaging the bottom of the wood cabinets.Updating/downgrading to 3 stars, due to just not easy to use. It out performed my Zoji rice cooker, but this is about the only feature I use it for, Not practical for it's Size/footprint, and it is heavy to bring out. Probably will replace with another multi cooker.

Nightmare to Clean, Disassemble
Get the Phillips HD 2137. A few critiques of this model. First, very difficult to disassemble for cleaning. No idea how in the hell you are supposed to get the flimsy aluminum plate that seals the top back on after damaging it, and that is right where the o-ring seal goes. Once you get the o-ring off it won't go back on snugly. Nightmare to clean. The menu function is confusing, and good luck with the manual.I owned the Phillips model above before. It features the same wonderful non-stick bowl, but has so many other great features. Easy to use, simple and easy to clean, and it is larger than this one, which seems to take up lots of space for the small bowl it has. Pony up the extra cash for the other model and you won't be disappointed. I'm trying to clean this thing to get a few more uses out of it before I repurchase the HD 2137, but I'm not even sure I can get the damn thing back together to do that.

I like my multi-cooker
I like my multi-cooker. It is very nice and comfortable device. I look many types of deference multi-coockers I chose this one because a ceramic pot (6mm wide). Usually the pot is aluminium more light and with Teflon surface. And I like this this ceramic pot it is more wide and heavy. It bakes and cooks more quickly, and the taste is difference. The ceramic pot has little handles and it is easy to remove from the machine. I think the ceramic surface is healthier then Teflon. Instruction tells that it is possible wash in dish washer, but I'm still afraid and wash it by hand. They tell that material is stainless steel. I chose this cooker machine because i use almost all functions and it easy to wash: the computer panel has no buttons, the lid is removable, and pot does not burn. The delay cooking feature is very handy to prepare a meal and have it ready to serve when I get home. When it finishes cooking it turns off, so I never have burned food in the pot. It is good purchase for students, busy moms and seniors.

Will break after warranty expires
We bought this 2.5 years ago. While the price was pretty high, but it had a bunch of useful features: rice boiling, yogurt mode, steam cooker and so on. It was very helpful to cook healthy food, but after 2.5 years a heating element stopped turning one day, and since then it became useless. I've checked their website and warranty for this is just 1 year, so if you buy it be prepared that it will break after your warranty expires. Excellent set of features, pretty bad build quality that leads to unreliability after some time.

LOVE it. Use it all of the time
I had a similar Philips cooker when I lived in France for nearly two years (2014-end of 2015). I LOVED it and was disappointed I couldn't bring it home with me because it didn't have the ability to work on the 120w outlets we have in the USA.So I started shopping right away for a replacement and found this almost identical unit here on Amazon.I think it has been upgraded a bit. The inside pan seems to be heavier than the one I had before and the small handles on the pan stay cool so you can pick it up without mitts. Also the steaming tray now has the ability to hold eggs to steam cook them in the shell.I use this a LOT - for baking cakes, making rice, as a slow cooker, making soup etc. I have a nice large kitchen so don't need to save space but this would be a PERFECT addition to a small kitchen or for a college student. You really have an extra burner to boil potatoes or even an extra oven to an extent if you are making a cake etc.Why not 5 stars? It is WAY over priced in my opinion. This unit was double what I paid for almost the exact same thing in FranceThe slow cooker only has one setting which I assume is high. I like to start my roasts on high for 2-3 hours (I normally put the roast in completely frozen) - and then move it to low for 3-5 hours more. I couldn't see a way to change the slow cooker temperature.

It's a good multi-cooker but the only thing I don't like is ...
It's a good multi-cooker but the only thing I don't like is that it's not very convenient to open the lid and take out and put back the pot. Other than that it works well.

Good for morning oatmeals
The lock on the lid broke after about a year and a half and I have not used it the much. May be about 20 to 30 times. For such a price- it should be a sturdier piece of equipmentThe rice portion should be of a certain size or it will be overcooked. Also if you leave it in the warm up mode it will also be overcooked and burned.Good for morning oatmeals, otherwise cooking is more efficient and fast on the normal stove.

Worth every penny! A steal if you get on sale!
This thing replaces so many clunky kitchen items and makes cleanup a breeze with being able to do everything for your meal or dessert in ONE easy to clean pot! From breakfast to dessert, you could easily use this to cook something for every single meal.Things are coming out of mine tasting like restaurant quality food with very little effort, thanks to set and forget! Even switching cooking functions to make a complete dish like ribs I did the other night, is no hassle at all!Easy peasy! Easy clean! Easy cooking!

Very low quality from such a reputable manufacturer!
The overall quality of this Philips multi-cooker is quite low. These bugs are easily fixable but yet Philips issued this product on the market without sufficient quality checks:1) Fahrenheit are not changeable to Celsius2) user guide as well as a couple of recipes suggest that minutes should be adjustable for slow cook mode. But minutes are not actually adjustable, one can only adjust hours. Philips live chat was not able to suggest a solution.3) both the user guide and menu book has some bugs: missing slow cook mode description similar to other modes; pictures not properly linked to mode descriptions; and even some temperatures not correctly converted between F and C.In addition, the lid does not open wide enough in this North American edition. So you cannot take the pot out of the cooker easily but should manually open the lid a bit extra.
