Great resource filled with interesting activities
Using everyday household ingredients and equipment, the activities are interesting with mathematical, social, scientific and writing links, usually a combination. Author talks about teaching this basic 'goodness' to our kids and even though we are sometimes dysfunctional families and may not be able to enjoy all of the activities together many activities take a few minutes but incorporate a lot. A variety of activities allow for use in the classroom, in the home, in the car, at the beach etc. One of my faves is the 'Love Eggs-periment' which combines a number of learning experiences including social - caring for people and scientific - adding salt to water makes an egg rise from the bottom of a glass.

Every single entry is dog-eared
I usually dog-ear (fold down the corners) of my favorite pages in these types of books. This particular book has every entry dog-eared. I can't believe the amazing ideas and life lessons that are presented with NO time or experience or tons of supplies needed. On of my kids favorites: put a piece of hard candy in your mouth. Put a rock in your shoe. Now walk around while sucking the candy. When the candy has finally dissolved, talk about what you thought about the experiment. The lesson is that you can focus either on the negative or positive - they're both in every situation; it's just how you choose to look at things. LOVE this book!!!!!! Please write more!!!

A great book but not what I wanted
I got this book in a set of three similar books (as recommended by Amazon). The other two provide stories in child-friendly language which can be read to the child and then discussed. This book is written for the parents, and gives them instructions for activities that they can set up and do with the child to teach a lesson. I am just more excited about the books I can read directly to my child. Other parents may enjoy having ideas for "lesson plans" for teaching the lessons to the child, but I just don't get excited about that myself. There is a "hands on" element to the book which is cool, but I read through a few and just didn't get excited about setting them up and doing them.

Ten minutes that could affect a lifetime!
This is an interesting and useful book. It provides a wide range of activities to use with children to help them learn about themselves and understanding others. Many of the activities offer ways to accommodate for older or younger audiences, and some are specific to ages. The range of topics addressed is rather inclusive, and the activities are designed to appeal to all types of learners (visual, auditory, kinesthetic). The activities offer a creative approach to each topic, and are nice springboards for deeper discussions. I am certain this book will be utilized both in my home and in my classroom!

Short time, big impact!
In our busy lives, 10 minutes seems like a really long time…unfortunately! These activities are easy to implement in a short amount of time and yet they have the potential for having a lasting impact and for being something that children want to do over and over again.

Fun activities
My family and I played the first activity in the book about what things do you think you cannot live without. Once we got to the part where you have to eliminate items on the list that you can live without, it was very interesting to see the choices made. My son actually chose toys, electronics, etc first. I guess I am setting a good example and teaching him what is most valuable and that is love and family!!
