How long does it take to produce compost? I seen some composters advertise compost in 14-21 days. Can anyone give me a more realistic estimate? thanks

Margaret, If everything is perfect it's certainly possible to have compost in 3 weeks but it may take a bit longer dependent on several variables.It depends on the composition of your compost, material size, amount of compost in the tumbler, temperature, moisture and how it's tended to. in an ideal situation would be about 2/3 to 3/4 of the tumbler, have the proper proportions of carbon to nitrogen (brown stuff to green stuff, which should be about 30:1), and whatever material has gone into your pile should be broken or chopped into 1" pieces. Let it sit for a couple days and then rotate it every day for a week and then every other day for another 12 days. This way, you can have finished compost in about 20 days.

Are these pvc and bpa free?

How big is the opening to get the materials in and the compost out?

We have yet to get the composter together yet, but I would suggest watching the video on the page where this is advertised. It shows people adding to and emptying from the composter, so you can get an idea how large the opening is.

is this compost tumbler made in the U.S.A. or elsewhere (namely china)?

Our paperwork indicates that the compost tumbler that was shipped to us was manufactured in Utah, USA.
