Kuat Mini Skinny Roof Basket, Black

I have a 2 door little red Honda Civic that is fun but not very handy when it comes to outdoorsy time with friends on bikes or kayaks with camping gear. I came upon this innovative little basket that can carry a second bike if needed but most of the time is used for extra cargo area. It basically doubles the carrying capacity of my car and looks pretty awesome doing it! Not much wind noise when at speeds as I have a sunroof that's open most of the time and the rack installs in a snap. I see that it's out of stock almost everywhere and no longer listed on the manufacturer's website. I hope they keep making it because it allows you to have other accessories on the top of your car(I have a single Rocky Mounts Brass Knuckles bike rack) but could easily have ski mounts in the middle, so it really shines for options.I did buy the cargo rack net that Amazon suggests as it's long and skinny like the rack. It works well and does the job.Very happy with my purchase!

This is a nice sized storage bin for your smaller car or suv. This helps carry those oversized items when traveling fir camping or a weekend trip someplace. This is nice and lightweight to make placing it on your car a breeze and is made of good quality metal. The only downside is that the pads and locks you use to secure it to the cross bars on your car are a little in the cheap side. The locks won’t lock in place unless you have all the securing parts in perfect alignment over your cross bar. It took a while to get it secured to my car.

I’m a realtor and tend to carry a few items in my trunk all the time. Sometimes trunk space is limited for trips to Costco and what not, so instead of u loading and loading my gear, I can just toss it up on the rack which gives me full use of my trunk! I can still park in the garage and it’s not too noisy on the freeway. I also bike so the fork mount is a nice touch.

Looks bad ass but for some reason has open holes towards the back that rust quickly. Plugged them with plastic caps and silicone glue which fixed the problem, for now.

I haven't seen too many reviews or pictures for this yet, figured I'd add some more. I have this basket and a Thule sidearm bike rack on top of a 2006 Nissan Sentra - it seems to fit real well! I have 46 inch bars, and I don't think I could add any more to them. So, this basket + 1 other item pretty much fills the 46 inch width.I was able to fit one 90-L REI duffel bag, and one 60-L pack with some room to spare (pictured). The rack had maybe extra inches of width compared to the duffel bag. I believe I could fit in 3 or 4 packs into the basket.The rack likely cannot hold skis well without the extender. (I was really hoping I could lash a ski bag into it.) I'm attaching a picture of a 168cm ski propped on the basket's edge - the ski is effectively too long to fit into the basket. Throwing snowboards in would probably work out just fine.The bike mount seems pretty sturdy and well made, though I haven't thrown a bike on it yet. However, I love the versatility of this basket and the ability to hold a bike. I also got a fork adapter to work with my MTBs, seems like it'll be a good system.The basket itself seems sturdy and like it'll last a while. The logo on the fairing is effectively a big sticker that's peeling off a bit, but outside of that, I am impressed with the build quality. Mounting was fairly straightforward - basically some U-bolts, a plastic spacer, metal bracket, and some wing nuts. The basket comes with four covers, one for each bracket, and two of them have lock cores on them. The covers were a bit of a pain to get on (I initially had the brackets too close to the central tubes, which left no room for the covers), but it all worked out in the end.The basket is perfect for my use-case - a little extra room for random gear, a snowboard, or a bike, while still giving me space for one Thule sidearm bike rack. And it only looks a little bit ridiculous on my sedan!(The Corgi was curious and was in the basket for all of 30 seconds. I would never actually transport a dog in a roof rack. That'd be a ruff ride for them.)

This is a awesome setup!! It gives me enough room to have two separate bike racks on the roof , letting me carries 3 bikes on the roof. This is awesome since I work for a bike shop!This thing carries just what I need and looks awesome while doing it.I bought it with the spider net the sell all directly form them and they are awesomeThere customer service is great. I had a small issue a they exceeded my expectations!Very good company. I recommend this basket for anyone looking for a little extra space in the vehicle. I heard little to no extra wind noise after installing it. Can't say enough good things.

I love this product. It fit well, and added tremendous character to my vehicle. I did start to carry cargo few days ago as I am learning more on its capabilities. Visor was cracked despite great packaging, but Kristy from customer specialist immediately sent me a new spare part. I am very grateful for that. Material coating and plating looks industrial grade finish. Road noise is non existent, items I have places were nicely cradles, and I will put my other bike at the center portion on this basket. I am getting lots of compliments. Thank you Küat for great innovation

This was great for about the first year and then I started to notice droplets of watery rust on my car. After looking closer, I noticed there were holes in the rack which Kuat had simply covered with black tape. The tape wore off so now water is getting in and then splashes out (full of rust) when I go for a drive.On the plus side, I do like the style of the rack as it allows room for paddleboards or my cargo box to be mounted along side it. I have also loaded it up with coolers, firewood, crab pots, kids sleds, and all kinds of other "stuff" I don't want inside my car and its held up great.In the end, I'll be patching all the holes and will continue using it. I just didn't expect this kind of shoddy work from a premium brand like Kuat.
