Get This 1st Day of Class do every Example...
I wished I gotten this book last year during Fall 2014. I would have passed the class. I wished I had purchased this book first day of class during Spring 2015 when I repeated the class. I would have passed all my quizzies, my tests. I would not had struggle the way I did. This book help me for my final, when I look at the final, I said Omg I know this. I did pass the class with a C. To some that is nothing. To me that is a lot I can transfer this grade to a 4 year college.

the best in its class
My kids recognize the topics and the practice questions. The answer/solution explanation section is thicker than the question part, showing that the explanation is comprehensive. I used to get them Glencoe (because the textbooks were) without the answers, but now I know there was no need. This "For Dummies" series has come a long way and I think it is the best of these practice publications.

Decent Resource for Students
I have two teenage sons and I get my fair share of helping them with their math homework. One of them has already moved through pre-calculus and the others is rapidly approaching the topic in his studies. One area where both have needed some assistance is in practice problems - while they do get plenty of practice, the problems they encounter with explanations are sorely lacking. This book is a good resource of fully explained problems and solutions. As another reviewer stated, precalculus is a generic term for most math subjects leading up to calculus. It encompasses geometry, trigonometry and algebra. So, precalculus is more of a review subject. It's easy to forget certain things that are covered when you get to precalculus, so practice problems are a must. This book hits all of those main subjects in some level of detail - geometry, trigonometry and algebra. This book does a nice job of presenting a large quantity of problems. The basic format is to provide practice problems in a group with a statement of explanation but little presentation. The solutions are in a completely different section of the book and provide mostly thorough explanations of how to get the answers. This format works, though I personally prefer an example or two first, followed by a list of problems, similar to a textbook. Then again, if that were the case this would become a textbook in its own right and would get away from its intended purpose - straight practice. To be honest, I have always been partial to Shaum's guides and would favor them over a book in this format. That said, that's a personal preference only.If you want raw practice in large quantities, this is a very good and affordable resource. There are some alternatives out there such as Schaum's Outline of Precalculus, 3rd Edition: 738 Solved Problems + 30 Videos (Schaum's Outline Series) but which is better suited to task comes down to preference.

Errors in answers
I do like how simple this book is. combined with the in depth explanations of the Precalculus for Dummies book, this book does make a great compliment for those who are trying to learn or refresh precalc. My largest complaint and the reason for the 3 stars is the errors in the answers. In answers 40-60, frequently the X and Y variables being plugged into the formula are switched incorrectly and therefor lead to incorrect answers (sometimes). Some of answers are still correct when I use the variables given in the correct way, but enough are wrong it caused me to become confused and I eventually spent way too much time trying to decipher who was actually right. Simply put, some of the problems have wrong work behind the correct answer and some problems have incorrect answers due to incorrect work. Turns out I'm not insane or stupid, the book is just dyslexic; or the author is. Overall, a good purchase despite the errors that are in it because much more of the content is for concept mastery than application anyway. Although math is about the details, its also about the big picture and understanding the parts and how they work and less about each component along the way.

... pre calc started using it right away and had fun beating the average scores
Daughter in grade 12 pre calc started using it right away and had fun beating the average scores. Then she went to class the following day and answered a class problem before anyone else. It was something she figurd out on her own solving the problems in this book. Can't beat that. Confidence is a wonderful thing. The online component is solid and makes it more engaging than a boring old book.

Great reference book for ideas for assignments
Great extra problem sets. Very handy to have for worksheets to give as assignments when students are confused on a topic. Good for review for a teacher who hasn't taught the subject for a while also.
