This book was written over 30 years ago but explains better than anything else I've read how the world got into the mess it currently is in. The author understands the competing forces around the world that struggle to this day for world domination - Communists, the Islamic world, Asian countries, the West. The most powerful of these are the Communist behemoths and the West, but both of these groups (even 30 years ago) were pretty much solely committed to secular materialism. In other words, man is the measure of all things, so forget about God. It was bad enough in the Communist world, but it's gotten much worse in the West with its addiction to decadence of all sorts.The book can be divided into 3 unequal sections. Parts 1 - 4 speak about how the world got this way - morality, communism, Pope John Paul II, Globalists of various stripes. Part 5 is mostly concerned with Mikhail Gorbachev, and given that he disappeared from the world stage not long after the book was written, this section can be skipped without losing much of the story. Part 6 and a Coda contain a fascinating recounting of the history of Poland and the events that brought Karol Wojtyla to the papacy, and then a sharp-eyed prophecy (from 1990) of where the Roman Catholic Church is today (2020's). We even get a few mentions of the World Economic Forum and Davos, but Martin does not have quite the perspective on that group as many have come to have in the 2020's.The revelations and prescience of this book stunned me. There were times when it brought me to tears. It made me look at the war in Ukraine (Martin predicted such a war in eastern Europe!) as more of a battle of secular materialists - the Communist (and former Communists) on one side, battling it out with the West (WEF, etc). Both are aiming for control (enslavement?) of the world using the chains of technology, money, food, and military strength. And both have disdained any true interest in religion or God, although its trappings may be useful at times. One world government, God help us!This book, like every book I've read by Malachi Martin, has been a gigantic red pill. Not easily forgotten!

This is one of the most reveiling books on the New World Order and it's players that I've read thus far. I've read about 200 pages and my spirit is wrentched reading page after page of the satanic battle that was on going, and still going, during Pope John Paul's pontificate. Fr. Martin tells all and you will be stunned as to who is relly playing the game...America (no, not our president, but cardinals, bishops, priests and people in high places with real money and power) and Russa (not Putin but Gorbachov) and our dear John Paul, who was a prisoner in his own house, the Vatican. And if you really want to know the foundation of this satanic war of horrors, read Fr. Martin's, Winswept House. The horror in the first 100 pages will hit you in the chest like the blow of a sledge hammer. But, I digress. Blessings.

Very enlightening. Tells a lot of information about the Pope John Paul era politics and the ongoing plan by different countries and interest to set up a world system of governance. Since Martin is an ex-Jesuit, he does tend to have a bias for the Catholic/papal side in this vie for world dominance which turns to sycophantic adoration at times.

I am collecting all of Malachi Martin's books. His books explain what has happened in the last 50 years with the decline of the Catholic Church and the state of world affiars. Dr. Martin was a Jesuit Preist, Exorcist and Vatican insider for 25 years. He was also one of the very few people who read the Third Secret of the Fatima. He was under oath to never reveal what was in the document and he never did. His books are fascinating and thought absorbing. It is sad that he is no longer with us. The most riveting book he has written is, "Hostage to the Devil."

if you need to understand the Church and politics up to a point this is a good (slow) wintertime read. Got into Malachi after "Hostage to the Devil". Personally felt he was very, very astute. He was a Jesuit but a traditionalist and a foe of the heresy of modernism and relativism that afflicts the Jesuits today. Read all od Malachi if you want an understanding of the Church and its problems. He will help you understand why we have such a goof ball Pope today.9slo)

Another Malachi Martin classic that is extremely well written and gives us a great insight into the heavy burden that John Paul II carried on his shoulders in taking the church forward into the New World Order...A must read for all Catholics who want to understand the times that we are living in and how the the chastisements of God are affecting us all!Where and how do we Catholics fit into the schemes of "The New World Order"....
