Great unit to keep me moving
You will like this better if you swap out the seat for a comfort seat like they sell for a bike (you will need a wrench to remove the bike stem parts) , as the springs are a little heavier and won't throw your balance off as much. I bought a used one on here and it diden't come with a key, so contacted topmate for a warranty replacement throttle/key.. it arrived 2 weeks later and after watching their how-to video on youtube I was able to replace it.. still works great!!!

Know your CENTER OF GRAVITY!!
I am a polio victim with my whole left side extremities without any muscle control. I have a right side that allowed me to walk with and without braces and has carried me all these years. I've gotten older and now require a mobility scooter. I have a Go-Go Scooter that I started using 5yrs ago and is very comfortable with it.After seeing this Topmate ES30 and after some deep research, I gambled and figured that I can manage to use this even with the warning of it being not for those with balancing problems. Well, I have that as a semi-problem because I can catch a fall from my right side but certainly not the left. My wife and I are headed to France this October and the lightness of the ES30 is something that might really work for me touring Europe. I practiced S and 8 turns in my garage first to do a feasibility test and I aced it. I then had to test it out in the streets and all the gauntlets it had against me and my scooter. Below, I am sharing my observations and hopefully it will help others like me.Modifications:1. The pegs are much to small for my polio feet. I fixed that by building a platform to hold my feet better (see pictures). I cut out sheet metal and affixed the base platform to the pegs permanently. I then primed and painted it so it won't rust through the coming years. I then covered and glued in an anti-slip tape on the base platform to keep my loose left foot and my right foot from slipping off while riding.2. The original seat is just too narrow so I got a wider (11" x 11" approx) bike seat and replaced the original. In my case, I still need a wider seat but this certainly works better. I am entertaining a solution where I will strip the bottom bike seat frame so I can have an upholsterer make me a wider bench type seat and have it welded/screwed on the original bottom seat frame to enable re-attaching of the custom bench seat. This will certainly help a lot!Riding Observations:1. The 3 speed is just too powerful. This is a plus because you can use the power to your advantage when negotiating steep inclines from handicap slopes built for the curbs.2. Know you center of gravity (THIS IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW!). When I encountered bumps on uneven pavements (about 3/4" to 1 and 1/2"), you need power to get over them but this may cause you to do a wheelie because of the power you need to get over them. The solution: LEAN FORWARD AS MUCH AS YOU CAN and put your weight on the power wheel which is upfront. Doing this also gives you a low and better CENTER of GRAVITY. With that technique of forward leaning and proper practice on power usage management I was able to safely go up and down through most gauntlets. I don't know how the curbs are in Europe but I think I'm 75% sure I can manage. At times, I had to slow down, LEAN FORWARD, set my right foot down and slowly power up through the incline and I was successful. I've only practiced for 2 days and have made significant progress. I still have 15 more days and I'm confident I will get the hang of it!3. When riding, we tend to lean back but that is only okay if you have a long paved smooth surface. Look ahead to where you are going and when you see a bump (gauntlet) lean forward way before and when on it. This will allow you to ride smoothly while smoothly applying the right power over it. Then you can go back to a relaxed position after. REMEMBER: the power is in the front wheel and not the back wheels so if you lean too much back, it definitely contributes to the wobbliness of the scooter. Being aware of this all the time is key!Overall: I love this scooter despite its few design flaws.I hope this helps everyone who intends to utilize this design.

Love it
Really Love the Scooter. It’s fun to ride and probably has to do a little with the fact hthat you have to have a little skill when using it. If you’re not careful it could tip since it has a high center of gravity, but you would just put your legs out to prevent that. I go slow with it anyway but it can actually go quite fast and can easily make it up inclines. I am quite happy with it and quality seems good. I have to use crutches because I have m.s. but with this I can get around much more easily. Also, I called customer support and they were very helpful. Seems like they really care about customer service which is great.

Very dangerously wobbly for anyone to ride.
The trike is to unstable for anyone of any age to safely ride. I Tried to redesign the unit to make it safer to ride. I lengthened the wheel base and extended the axle width with some Improvement. The big problem is the folding hinge mechanism is designed in such a way that is the weakest part of the unit and creates the wobblyness. If you want to see what I have done to improve the unit you can email and I will send you back a couple of pictures. Email me at [email protected]

Came without keyed on and off
We bought this with the understanding that it had an on-off key feature so we could take it on the airplane on trips. The airline wouldn't let us take it since it couldn't be locked off. So it isn't as useful as we had hoped. I waiting to hear from the seller to see if we can get a keyed update for it. Otherwise it will be sitting at home while we're doing our traveling. The scooter doesn't feel as stable as I had hoped. Wobbles a bit at slow speed and if your going fast, it's kind of unstable. The 2nd gear works the best - both for acceleration and comfortable speed. Shipping took well over a month because the warehouse was out of the product. Would I buy it again? Not sure - I probably would but would like some modifications made. The company sent us a new handle with a key and said I would have to hook it up myself which is fine, The problem is all the wire connections are different colors and no schematic or diagram to show which connections go to the scooter. So now we wait for a response. I'll update this again when or if I receive a reply, I received a response very quickly. They sent a video and close up photo of the connections which made it very easy to complete by myself. Great Customer Service! I would definitely work with them again.

VERY unstable on turns!
No instructions or videos on how to fold. Took me a week to figure it out! Be sure to wear a helmet!

Unique and fun
The build quality is excellent. Ride quality is good, getting on and off is easy. A good sense of balance is required as center of gravity is high. The controls are easy to use and the electric motor demands a light touch or you will going fast too quickly. I like my tricycle, the uniqueness is appealing, fun to use, easy to setup and to fold up.
