So, a little back story on myself. I have a love/hate relationship with all things citric. I cant get enough of lemonade, orange juice, grapefruit, you get it. Only problem is i have a low tolerance for citric acid, the stuff causes rather painful boils to rupture in my mouth (canker sores) within hours of drinking something especially potent, such as a glass of fresh squeezed lemonade. This condition is largely unresearched, and set in during my early teen years. I suffered for several years, basically swearing off of anything with citric acid being one of the top 5 ingredients. I didnt do well. I relapsed a lot, so i would just kinda keep a tab in my head, "ok thats 1 mtn dew, i can risk 3 more this week before I can't eat for a few days due to 3 or 4 lesions forming around my tongue or lips making even speaking painful.....screw it, going for broke". Around 17, my older sister heard me complaining about this and she told me she took L-Lysine tablets to help with her lesser version of what I now assume is a genetic hand-me-down. Lysine heals the soft tissues in your body you see, and I soon discovered if i took them, it had a dramatic effect on my healing rate, but if i took them regularly, I'd pretty well be canker sore free. Ive tried 2 or 3 brands of lysine capsules over the last decade. My last go to must've swapped something out as I was noticing a marked decrease in effectiveness. So I tried Life Extension. It was a smidge pricier, but whatever if i can enjoy my citrus drinks. As a side note i now work for a large amino acid producer, who used to make lysine(since discontinued) and now have a sort of intimate awareness of the process. Anyway, there are grades of product meant for different purposes: pharmaceutical, food additive, veterinary, etc. This particular brand must use a higher grade stock in their capsules, I can feel a sore coming on, take 1 capsule, and the next morning the sore has disappeared. I haven't had any sores since i purchased this stuff. I dont take it daily either, only when i feel one about to emerge, and the effect seems to stick around for a while. My previous brand of choice was unable to achieve this level of healing or in such a time frame. Truly top grade stuff. You guys have me for life, or atleast till you sell out and swap to a lower grade amino acid. Please don't.

Taking this supplement has stopped my recurrent Shingles from coming back. I was having Shingles that would last about six weeks, would get a week or two of relief, then they would come back. Once I started taking this supplement, Shingles have not returned in more than six months. Talk to your doctor, but try this!

This lysine works well for me. It is easy to digest. I will definately buy it again next month when my supply is gone.

UPDATE July 2022 1st time opened bottle & white powder everywhere. Will do an exchange as 1st time UPDATE... I have two bottles of this from Amazon and the one that I've been using I just realized has no expiration date on the label. However the second bottle that's unopened does have an expiration date on the bottle. I've had shingles three or more times and lysine helps to reduce the outbreak.after the last episode I decide to take lysine for the rest of my life. ONLY USE LYSINE POWDER which is pure lysine without any other inactive ingredients for your cat....FYI I only use this product for me I give my cat the pure powder lysine that has nothing else in it for her safety. my cat has to take lysine daily to because she has the very common herpes virus.I give her a different formulation that's made specially 4 cats in a powder. I made the mistake stopping her lysine for one week and she ended up with a full-blown respiratory herpes virus so ill for a week and a half. I never thought that I would stop that but there was new research that I feel is computer percent faulty that said that lysine should not be introduced to cats to prevent herpes virus. In the 13 years I've had her every time she stops the lysine she gets incredibly ill.so if you see that research don't stop your lysine for your cat because its incorrect. My vet agrees with me she's still prescribed lysine to prevent feline herpes respiratory illness on a daily basis for prevention.

I've reordered these many times. I've tried other brands but keep coming back to this one...it seems to work for what I wanted. Helps keep the corners of my mouth from cracking.

I woke up one morning with a case of shingles in my hair and on my face. I had used L-lysine for a previous bout with shingles. The first brand I ordered were impossible to swallow (even when I cut them up). These were perfect, easy to swallow and helped to cure the shingles in about I week I think. They were still present in that you could see them, but the pain and itching was completely gone.

I am so glad I was able to find it on Amazon for a cheaper price. I like that it’s 620mg instead of 500mg. Good quality and came packaged well

I'm so glad this comes in capsules—they’re way easier to take than those massive oval tablets from the chemist. Even better, I managed to find it on special!

L-Lysine is tricky to find in capsules. I have issues taking the large tablets, these capsules, big but easy to take. Really pleased I tried. Will be buying more.
