Inspect the contents very carefully.
First off, the way Agri-fab packed this product is horrible. Other than a couple of pieces of cardboard around the main frame, everything was in shambles when I received it. The spreader plate was busted in 3 sections, and the inside of the bucket was gouged and marred. For $369.00 I would have expected better packaging. One call to Agri-fab, and they sent me a new spreader plate. Also, the instructions do not show the 3/8 lock nut and washer (and was not included) that attaches the draw bar to the frame. The bolt is already in place under the gear box from the factory, but no lock nut and washer to fasten it down. The spreader does appear to be well built, and the hopper door operates properly, as it should. We’ll see in time, how it holds up.

Unusable - Arrived with the wrong parts
Agri-Fab has some production quality control problems. The axle on the unit I received was about 6" too short on each side. There was no way to mount the spacer and the wheels and get them properly connected to the axle. With the axle provided, the unit was totally unusable.I spent about 2 hours putting it together (there are no words in directions, just diagrams, so its a pain to figure out which hardware goes where, when to tighten things down, and what aligns with what five steps later) and another 1/2 hour taking it apart and putting it back in the box. Amazon is taking it back tomorrow.Overall, the frame is solid, the hopper box is solid, and the tires are big and appear to be heavy duty (if only they had fit on the axle properly). On the downside, the open/close plate at the bottom of the hopper is plastic and barely adjusts to closed, so once you start using it, there is likely to be some leakage (I had planned to spread ice melt and I'm not sure the mechanism would have fully closed when in use), there is cheap metal grate that doesn't really secure inside the hopper, and the so-called cover is thin plastic with elastic like you might put over leftovers. I doubt the cover would last two weeks.

Just what a hobby farmer needed
Great spreader. Easy to assemble and use. Good hopper capacity and good reach on the spread. And the tires hold up well.

i have seen alot of reviews about poor packaging and missing parts
i have seen alot of reviews about poor packaging and missing parts. my came intact and packaging was fine. This spreader was very simple to put together, just saying with a little common sense the product actually goes together very easy.i havent used it yet but i calibrated the opening for the product and checked the way it worked by rolling in the garage. This spreader is of good quality and should do the job nicely. my old spreader was an agri fab and it has worked very well for a long period of time, Just wanted to upgrade to a larger unit and i believe this one will fit the bill nicely. Thanks agri fab

Excellent product
Have used this "tow-behind" spreader three times now and have nothing but praise for it. Solidly made and adequately braced for the weight it is capable of handling. A well designed, wide enough stance on generously sized tires to prevent tip-overs even when going across steep grades. I use it behind our John Deere lawn tractor which is one of the 4 wheel-steer models which turns very sharp and the spreader tow bar is long enough to prevent contact with the rear of the tractor on the sharpest turns yet the on/off handle is still operator accessible while driving. The on/off handle is a direct mechanical connection to the drop gate on the bottom of the material hopper so it always functions unlike the poorly designed cable connectors you encounter on many other spreaders that give you headaches. Would have no problem recommending this spreader to friends and family. Agri-Fab 175-Pound Tow Broadcast Spreader 45-0329

Missing parts gear box wobbles
While this setup seems pretty well engineered, it's NOT without issues:1. Missing parts in the packaging, 1 Locking nut whas missing.2. The plastic retention nut that is supposed to center the spin axle in the base of the bucket rattles around until I used a screw driver to press it into the square hole. Concern is that the cotter pin hole is almsot 3/8 inches above where it needs to be to hold the plastic nut in place. Even when it's installed and smashed into place when rolling forward the gear box rocks left and right, doesn't appear to be functioning perfectly.I ran it with about 25 lbs of fertilizer and the adjustable opening works great and the broadcaster does its job. However I'm still really concerned about the gear box, the amount of wobbling movement is significant. I'll run it with a full load and sse if It settles down, if not I'll initiate a return.

Absolutely terrible and misaligned parts
This thing is a lousy piece of junk. I will never buy another AgriFab product again. Had to get a replacement for the first one because of a bent and beaten up gearbox and shaft. Finding out only after assembling the entire thing that the spreader wouldnt spin. Just assembled the replacement and having a similar issue. The axle that takes the cotter pin does not line up properly with the hole in the wheel. This company should be embarrassed and ashamed. It’s likely the replacement will now have to be disassembled and returned as well because even though the spreader is not spinning more than the first one the wheel with the cotter pin is still getting caught up and will not operate properly. I have never been so disgusted with a product in my life. Do not waste your time and money on buying anything AgriFab

Works Good
Not bad for smaller jobs but just to get this out of the way the instructions are one step up from IKEA. I put 100 lbs of sand and 30 lbs of seed and it spread it out nice and even. Pulls nice with my zero turn and side by side.
