Interstate Pneumatics SA142 - Compressor Air Filter Replacement 1/2" MPT Paper Cartridge Metal Body replaces Campbell Hausfeld p/n HL018200AV

I installed this on my 8 gallon Harbor Freight compressor, which came with a similar black metal filter, but that housing had 3 air holes and no internal tubing. The internal tube is what helps make this filter quiet. With the new filter in place, the compressor’s sound is definitely not as piercing as the original filter. As others have said, the sound is smoother and not as hammering/sharp... the edge has been taken off. It's not significantly quieter (I'd still wear hearing protection), just a little easier to be near the compressor when its on. The quieting effect is better the further you're away from it (obviously) but it's true, so I know it won't bother the neighbors as much now as it used to.One thing: the small tube attached to the outer housing is plastic, whereas competing designs appear to use a metal tube stamped/pressed into the housing (those with the metal tube are also more expensive). But I wonder if that metal tube and it's stronger mechanical connection to the housing helps make those options any quieter than this one.

Bought this after tearing apart two different plastic filters on my Harbor Freight 2.5HP compressor. The first broke when I bumped it against something in my shed. The second ripped to pieces when a hole in my jeans caught on it as I stood up next to the compressor.Seems sturdy enough and fits well. The inlet size seems restricted compared to the plastic filters. I haven't used it enough to really gauge whether this impacts airflow, but I'm happy enough just to have something made of metal that won't tear off when bumped. The filtration media seems much better than the foam that was in the previous filters. I'm using the compressor in a very dusty environment.

I couldn’t believe how much quieter this made my compressor. Its still loud, but a noticeable difference. It’s cheap, and more than likely is actually filtering the air. Haven’t looked up replacement filters yet, but it was cheap so I’d just replace the whole thing if filters are expensive.

I replaced an 8 year old filter (that I didn't even know was there) on my husky 60 gallon air compressor. I noticed my compressor would sound like it was working harder and take a while to fill. Someone mentioned a filter. So sure enough they were right. My original filter was packed full of dust and paint over spray. I removed the filter completely and the compressor worked better but made a really loud unbearable sound when running. This was about 1/3rd the price of the equivalents at home depot so I bought it. Now my compressor works great and is quiet again.

Threads were to big for my DeWalt air compressor. With that said I just pulled out new filter, put it in old housing and it fit perfectly.

I used this on the black harbor freight 21 gallon air compressor. Don't expect this to make your compressor unaudible. The best way I would describe it is this filter takes the edge off of the compressor noise and makes it easier to be in the same room. Compressors will always be loud, wear hearing protection around them. My main reason for this purchase was to replace the terrible factory foam air filter with something that would increase the life of the compressor by better air filtration, and this fit the bill.

worked great to put on my small air compressor when I broke the original off putting it into my truck. this threaded right on and has kept my compressor running ever since. I would note that the threads on the filter are a little crusty and could be finished better.

I own an old Craftman air compressor and the muffler broke off from the NPT thread, so looked on Amazon for a replacement and I am very satisfied with the purchased and the product. Exactly as described. Thanks!
