Great Add on to the Top Chip Maker Set
UPDATE: I purchased a new microwave (1250 watt, 2.2 Cubic Feet Panasonic). In this new microwave I can do all three trays with potatoes and have perfect chips in 3.75 minutes!!!! I also do not have the overheating problem my old microwave had. I am using this much more now that I have a more powerful microwave. I have also done apples which came out great (brushed them in Splenda and Cinnamon) and than had cool whip on the side (dip). They cooked perfectly and quickly!!!I have purchased the Chip Maker (one tray and a slicer) and got this so I can use all three trays for cooking my chips (I do not use them all at once, I have one microwaving, while I prepare the next one and have a cycle (microwaving >> preparing >> cooling)I have made a few batches now and they have been delicious. I do find the chips in the middle get a little browner, but still taste the same as the lighter colored chips. I personally think they taste like regular Lays chips, they are crispy and are just delicious! They are strong enough to hold dips and salsa and is a healthy alternative to regular chips (plus they are a lot cheaper). I also find that salting them before microwaving makes the salt stick to the chips better than salting afterwards. I plan on finding some BBQ and ranch and other flavor powders to use on these as well.I purchased these additional trays, however, I found that my microwave does not like doing more than one tray at a time (takes a long time and top tray burns). So, I do each tray separately ,but still save time having multiple trays since I can have the next one ready to go. My microwave also seems to overheat after about 3 or 4 cycles (each tray takes about 4 minutes) and the microwave cuts off, after it cools it comes back on and nothing is wrong with it, I think it just overheats from the moisture in the potatoes. I have used this several times now and love it! --NOTE: when you use the mandolin, be sure to rinse it with water before tossing it in the sink, or you will have to scrub to get the potato liquid off once it dries.I highly recommend these (plus the maker with one tray and slicer) for cooking delicious chips in the microwave that are near fat free!

Takes a little experimenting, but crispy, yummy guilt free chips
Initially a little frustrating because what I learned from experimenting, should be in the instruction book to begin with. It took 3 test tries, but it was well worth it because the results are great! Here are some tips:- Although instructions say you can stack up to 3 trays at a time, you also have to proportionately increase the cooking time and shuffle the stacking of the trays, so stacking really doesn't save time in the end.- Chips turn out crispier and cook more evenly if you use one tray at a time. Since stacking doesn't really save time, I cooked one tray at a time, and while the first tray was cooking, I sliced & arranged the slices on the other trays.- Cooking time is quite a bit longer than the advertised 3 minutes. We have a 850 watt Dacor microwave and it took 6.5 minutes to cook a single tray of thinly sliced chips. Check your microwave power output and adjust accordingly. * * update below.- A good visual sign that they're ready is when they start to curl up a little around the edges.- Slice chips as thin as possible for crispy chips. I used a mandoline's thinnest setting. I scrubbed the potatoes, then left the skins on. Thicker slices took over 8 minutes to cook - - they turned out more crunchy than crispy - - still good, but we prefer thinner and crispier.- Be sure to let chips cool completely. They don't crisp until they are completely cool.- Sweet potato chips are our favorite, as they require absolutely no seasoning at all. tip: sweet potatoes turn out better than yams, as they are drier and crisp up better.Definitely something we'll use regularly for guilt free snacking.* * update: I recently bought a new mandoline and it has made the world of difference! Swissmar Borner V Power Mandoline, V-7000, WhiteThis mandoline slices soooo very thinly & effortlessly, that the chips do indeed, crisp up in 4 minutes. Definitely worth getting this mandoline to partner with these chip trays.

Works fine
I have used this about 8-10 times now. They come out fine/ok. About a 7.5 out of 109 on the crispness scale. I use the thinest slice setting on my slicer, but still put them in the toaster oven for a quick minute to really crisp them up.
