Amazing pepper mill
Hard to find units like this now. I love this old school approach, easy to use and works great specially for grind large amounts. Built well and tough too and adjusting the grind is easy and stays set once at desired size.

It's the best!
The best pepper mill on the market! Perfect for meals that require a lot of grinding. Easy to adjust the settings and retrieve your pepper. We use it for large cuts of meat, cacio e pepe, and everyday use!

Mmmmm pepper
So me and my wife love pepper. Our old grinder broke, so it was time to replace. I really like the description and look of this grinder, and wore down my wife to get it. We were thinking of going with a more traditional mill, but we are really happy with this one. This mill really cranks out the pepper. A half turn gives enough pepper for most uses. With six or so turns the tray is full of pepper( 1tbs+ of pepper). One advantage of this has been with cooking. When you need to pepper crust a roast, it is a much quicker job. This grinder also is better for soups and stews. We can easily grind a bunch of pepper but we can also easily grind it away from steam. This allows us to keep the moisture out of the grinding mechanism. Also, unlike previous mills that are vertical column type, this doesn't mess up our counters. We used to always have pepper on the counter where we sat the old pepper mill. With the tray on the Peugeot we finally have pepper free counters. We really like the grind settings, nice and coarse. It is adjustable so you can make it as thin or thick as you like. This unit locks the grind setting in, so it hasn't varied. We have set it to coarse and it has stayed that was since we got it. Our old mill always changed depending on how tight you screwed on the lid, so it would be thin powder pepper, then coarse pepper, and then the lid would fall off because it wouldn't go coarse enough and we would unscrew the lid on accident. This one is much more enjoyable. filling this unit is very easy due to the large chrome opening. It is the easiest filling pepper grinder we have ever had. No more funnels, just pour it in. Thank goodness to because it really goes through the pepper and we refill it a lot. I don't think hand holding this grinder over a plate of lets say salad is as easy as a more traditional grinder. You can take the drawer out and directly grind onto food, but the square shape necessitates large hands to do so. This may not be the right unit for salad lovers. The drawer makes it easy to get pinches of pepper or fill up a small dish and pass around the table for this purpose though. All in all, we have no regrets with this mill.

Worth the splurge
in great shape despite being resold. it’s a beautiful & durable product that is worth every penny. the craftsmanship is remarkable. i love the manual crank and how you can change each grind setting. but please note, it’s tough to adjust the setting because of a small metal bit. otherwise, i have no other complaints and am so very happy with my purchase.

Mixed bag: good mechanism but frustrations
The mechanism is good and grinds very evenly, consistently, and quickly. It is ideal for grinding a large quantity of pepper easily, and it has a hole at the bottom so you can remove the drawer to let the ground pepper flow into a large container. However, this retails for $130 and is about $70 from Amazon. For that price, there are lots of unnecessary frustrations and drawbacks. 1. The packaging is terrible. The flimsy manufacturer's box had opened, and the grinder had fallen out into the Amazon box. The thin plastic in the manufacturer's box was broken and dislodged, providing no protection. This is a very expensive item designed to look good on the counter! If you are planning to give this as a gift, you could be very disappointed by the massively damaged box when it arrives. And it is very likely that this shoddy packaging could result in a scratched or damaged item. 2. The knob on the end of the crank arm squeaks badly. The first thing I had to do was wrap a cloth around the knob and spray it with lubricant, then wipe it down. This should be done in the factory. Unlubricated squealing parts should not be shipped! 3. The bottom is smooth, slick wood. The bottom will slide around freely and get scratched on the counter instantly. So, the second thing I needed to do was get some stick-on rubber feet. This should be provided! Even the cheapest little gizmo you can buy will come with stick-on rubber feet. For the price, some high-quality, screw-in rubber feet should be provided! This is the worst kind of petty cost cutting that affects the use and durability of the product significantly. 4. It's very hard to fill the grinder. You have to have a funnel to do it without spilling peppercorns everywhere. For a $130 grinder, why is no funnel provided?? People are paying for a high-quality, well made product and are getting less than what is routinely available for 1/3 the cost. The solid wood housing and the grinding mechanism appear to be very well made. The grinder should last a lifetime. But the people in the factory must be frustrated at all of the poor, petty cost-cutting decisions that degrade the reputation and customer satisfaction with the product.

I ordered this classic pepper grinder for my niece and she loved crazy about the look, size of it. She only likes the classic style grinder.

Definitely worth the premium price
Flawless operation so far. I love the crank handle over the twist type of Peppermill. This one is not as easy to adjust as the other type. I did not know this before purchasing, but you can actually grind pepper with the drawer, removed to pepper your food directly under the mill.

Great grinder
I’ve used this to grind salt with garlic and it’s great for that. Occasionally you get a few pieces stuck, but of course it is a pepper grinder, not a salt/garlic grinder. As a pepper grinder it’s amazing. I prefer this than the automatic plastic junk.

I purchased this pepper mill, after having several different types of pepper grinders that I have sent to the trash. I have had battery operated and hand grinding mills, I have even used a mortar and pestle to grind my pepper. I am a certified chef and value the quality of fresh ingredients used in my daily cooking. I have to say this is the best pepper grinder I have ever purchased and expect it to last for many years to come. The beauty is its ease of use, having a torque handle and easy load of pepper corns. It is easy to adjust to precision grind settings. It has a tablespoon reservoir drawer for larger uses, and when this drawer is removed from the grinder it can be used for topping anything with fresh pepper, due to its design feature. The overall design is also appealing to the eye and looks antique. It is very efficient with little effort producing lots of pepper with each turn of the crank, and easier on the wrist. If fesh ground pepper is your go to spice, Peugot Olivier Roellinger pepper mill was designed for us.
