Innovative Marine Nuvoskim DC Protein Skimmer (Midsize)

This IM protein skimmer is an improvement over the original nano skimmer, however, it takes a few days before the microbubbles stop being formed. It is difficult to re-install the skimmer pump after you have removed it for cleaning.

Takes a bit to break in but has helped immensely

The pump on the bottom broke the spout off before I ever even used it. Bought a replacement pump and it does work great. But where the pump pops into the bottom doesn't seem very strong

After trying a few skimmers in my IM Fusion pro 10 gallon I finally found this which is made for my tank. You have to literally like at the bubbles to make sure it's on. Started skimming within 24 hours! The only negative I have the the large rubber o ring that is used to adjust the collection cup height. It moves when taking the cup off for cleaning and it will ales a little work to find the sweet spot again. Maybe they could find one that is tighter? Or put notches for differ o ring positions.

I had mines for 3 months and it ran great. I woke up one morning to the find the protein skimmer not working. The pump died and there's has been multiple complaints about this issue. Would recommend buying something with a quality pump.

I wanted to give this 4 stars, as I do most items, but I can’t really find anything wrong with it so far. I’ll update my review if anything changes as time goes on.It really is plug and play. I dropped it in my second chamber on my IM Nuvo 30L and within a few days it was producing skimate. Not sure why it’s not working for some others, but it’s been working perfectly for me. You can see in the picture where I’ve placed the band, for cup height. I tried a few different heights and it was either too wet or too dry, so this is what I’ve come up with as a good balance. You’ll definitely want to experiment to determine what the best height for yours will be. I guess if I have to be picky, I’m emptying it out a few times a week, but that’s really due to the size and how much I feed. Not an issue with the product itself.

Within 5 minutes of first plugging it in, I started collecting skim even with the cup positioned higher! I do have a heavy bio-load so it went right to work and I’m very happy with it. The only noise you can hear is a tee tiny hum from the motor, no louder than the stock return pump for a NUVO 20. Installed in 2 minutes (literally) and was collecting skim 5 mins after. Not sure how anyone could poorly review this unless there’s a broken component. If you have a NUVO Fusion tank, this is a great option!
