Great Flavor
These Porcini are everything you want as a home cook. The bag is full of dried porcini which hydrate easily, can be ground for seasoning additions, and deliver that classic porcini flavor and aroma. We have used them in our own seasoning mixes and dishes. Use the liquid left over after hydrating them in soups and stews to add a whole new level of flavor. A must have for people who love cooking and want to have mushrooms on hand whenever they need some, regardless of time of year. They store well in jars or storage bins

Flavor bomb
Rehydrate, boil, drain the water or run through a sieve to catch the dirt (otherwise you will get terrible hard pieces of dirt), and use a blender to puree it. And the flavor is stunning. I like to store them frozen with some mild spicing in small 1/2 pint jars in the freezer to add flavor to dishes. Soup, pasta, rice, or anything that needs a kick!

No porcini, but porcini group (bitter taste)
As a short background: I have lived in Rome for several years and are grew up in Germany, where I used to gather the mushrooms (Boletus Edilis) myself in the forests. The product is very disappointing, and borderline fraud. This is because it spells big Porcini but it is actually Funghi Porcini and its group. That means that all mushrooms that are in the same group (and there are many) are mixed in. In fact, I checked my package and I could find barely 10 slices, which I could make out to be Boletus Edilis. It should be noted that related mushrooms do not taste nearly the same, but usually are more buttery but less falvour intense. If you gather the wrong ones, they are even bitter. And thar is what it was: The quality of the slices was quite bad, with often just stems and no mushroom caps. The slices had a lot of worm holes, and an extremely bitter taste. And were still quite sandy. It already smelled bad in dried condition, but when I soaked it, it was really bitter. I couldn't use it for anything at all. So had had to throw the whole package away. Really sad I wasted so much money. From a cook and mushroom gatherer: Stay away. Invest more money in buying a higher quality product. You don't need 500g anyways! 1 ounce dried relates to 3-5 ounces of fresh mushrooms.

Thank You, China!
Italians introduced me to porcini many decades ago and since then I can never have enough of it. Unfortunately, wild porcini--foraged and gathered from Italian forests--not only is rarely available but also costs an arm and a leg. Thankfully, the enterprising and hard-working people in China managed to solve this problem. Yes, this porcini is probably grown in a farm in China, but the aroma, texture, and flavor are indistinguishable from wild, "real" porcini. And it's quite affordable. Now I can have my porcini and eat it, too.

Best value in Procini anywhere
This is a fantastic value. The mushrooms are wonderful for the sauces I make and the price cannot be beat. Lots of good size pieces of caps and not over loaded with stems as some brands are. I'll buy this again!

I have bought dried porcini mushrooms through Amazon in the past and they have been great. They looked like the dried porcini mushrooms from Italy. These dried mushrooms I received from Urbani mushrooms look like a lower grade product. The mushrooms are darker and am seeing a lot of irregular discoloured pieces and stems. Not what is pictured on your site. Very disappointed to find out I can’t return the product.
