Big improvement.
I ordered these (along with the KYB front shocks I reviewed last week) for my son’s 96 Mazda B3000. The fronts went on in about 15 minutes per side; these went on the rear just as fast. I jacked up the rear of the truck just to get a little extra room to work, but like the front that’s not necessary. The old ones came out good because my bolts weren’t really rusted bad at all, and when these were installed along with the fronts the ride came back to life! Firm now, now squishy or floaty, having new KYB shock all the way around is more than worth it!

Great quality at an excellent price.
The Good: My 1996 Ranger rides and handles significantly better than it has in many years. These shocks are very affordable. KYB products have always performed well for me without breaking the bank. The Bad: Absolutely nothing. The Verdict: These are a no-brainer if you need replacement shocks for daily driving that deliver performance similar to oem parts. I am completely satisfied with their performance in my application.I replaced the rear shocks on my 1996 Ford Ranger yesterday. The right rear was completely blown out and was contributing zero shock absorbtion. My factory left rear shock was functioning as it should. I replaced both of them with these KYB shocks. The ride quality is a bit firmer, but much more controlled. The truck handles fairly flat in turns, and is significantly less prone to wheel hop (which is probably what killed the factory shock). I see this shock is used in a lot of applications, and I can imagine it might feel a bit less aggressive in a heavier vehicle. My ranger is a 2.3 regular cab without a/c and has crank windows and a manual transmission. It weighs in at 2880 lbs, so these shocks give a little hint of a performance feel in turns. These shocks helped breath new life into an old workhorse. Any easy thumbs up for KYB.

Perfect for my ‘02 Ranger
These were a perfect fit for my 2002 Ford Ranger RWD. Good quality shocks and only took about 20 minutes to replace both sides.

Four Stars
Work fine, just a little stiffer than I thought they would be.

Great OE replacement shock
You couu hi Ed not ask for a better OE replacement shock. Handles like the original OE shocks. There are many shocks on the market and this by far was the best one for my truck. This is my prefer brand for all my vehicles in the future. They also have a great technical support line that answers the phone. Great product & technical support. What more could you ask for?

works great holds up under a heavy load like yard of ...
Put them on all for wheels of my Ford pick up. works great holds up under a heavy load like yard of sand cement a blocks, .bricks. I am a cement mansion, so I get my moneys worth out of anything I buy, so it`s has to stand up under what I do to them. I never go cheap on my parts I need for my equipment, It is my life and another person on the road, no bouncing or sway in KBY gas shocks.

Too stiff
I expected a cushy ride from a gas filled shock. These are rock hard. No compliance.

Nice Shocks for My Jeep
I have a jeep that had the Upcountry Shocks installed back when it was new. These are equivalent to the HD Rancho type of shocks. I was worried that these shocks would make the truck a bit floaty (which was why I ditched the stock shocks back when I got the vehicle). However, these have excellent control and ride quality. The ride is a bit softer than the Up Country shock package, but firmer than a stock shock would be. Overall an excellent replacement shock.
