5 Foot Handmade Cypress Porch Swing with Cupholders

Ordered this on a Sunday and had it on my porch Wednesday night! I had no issues with the packing and everything was there and in good shape. There is a personal letter included that states they will send out new pieces if anything is damaged. This truly is handmade in the USA which is a huge plus! Took me about 20 minutes to put it all together, you'll need a screw gun, ratchet with socket, hammer and possibly a helper. I like that the armrests are wider so that the chain holes don't take up the entire arm. Also, the cupholders are a nice added feature. The included hooks have a rubber bushing for smoother rocking as well. I am 6'0" tall and this fits pretty comfortably. The backs of my knees don't quite hit the front of the swing but that would probably be the case on most benches unless you got an oversized one. My wife is 5'7" and it fits her perfect. We plan to order a cushion for the seat bottom as well. We opted for the 5' model so that one person would have plenty of space to lay their legs out and relax. I love making wood stuff and was going to make a swing myself but for the price, you really can't beat this. All of the edges (even the holes) are either sanded/routed and very smooth which would take quite awhile without the proper equipment, not to mention the time to cut the arms and the holes. Since ours will be in a covered screened in porch we are not going to stain it and just let it naturally weather. Great product, I would highly recommend any of the ones this company makes!

Edit: I received this swing which was for my wife and was rather disappointed with wood finishing quality (blown-out drill holes, splintered, unsanded) and a broken support slat out of the box. I emailed the seller and they said they'd get a new one sent asap. One week later, no slat and radio silence. So I made a slat myself, which I should have done in the first place along with the rest of the swing, then painted and assembled an exceptionally weak swing for Mother's Day. No thanks to the seller. Go ahead and pass this one up, if you have a radial saw and jigsaw you can make this swing. I was actually appalled and then embarrassed to have purchased this item, especially since seller refused to replace their broken slat.Original Post: Broken runner upon receiving. I completely understand everyone's complaints! It took forever to receive, the order sat on their dock for a week and only shipped after I complained and they still never responded. Once it shipped my husband took it to the porch and started waterproofing it. When he took it out of the box I noticed all of the screws were raised and I asked him to secure them because I could see the screws catching on my clothing. The fourth screw in and a board split. He continued to waterproof it. It has taken awhile with the humidity but we are finally putting it together. Which brings me to the review. As separate parts you don't notice the problems. Once he started putting it together the defects were obvious. I'm thankful my husband is so handy, that is the only reason this swing is even able to go up. He has had to move two slats because they put it in the wrong position and the arm wouldn't go on. The center of the swing in the bottom has incorrect holes drilled. Some holes weren't even drilled for the screws. The screws didn't fit where they belonged. Before anyone asks, yes he knows what he is doing. He has built houses. This swing is a dud and the only reason it got the three stars is because it is somewhat doable if you are handy. If the manufacturer managed to pay attention to what they were doing then the swing would be great.Need to update! Ugh! Why on earth would you place the chains there! We are temporarily placing it there but as soon as we find a solution they are moving for safety reasons.

I should say I hesitated a bit ordering this swing because of the items in some of the very few negative reviews. So let me dispense of those up front: I, too, received a slightly damaged set, even though the packing looked intact. However, on closer inspection I found the damage to be in an area that is invisible and not structurally important. I'll write about the detail directly to the seller.Assembly was not too difficult, though the instructions would be clearer if the drawings were enlarged 50% or more. Do refer to the finished picture on this website -- it helps a lot. I also found some missing pre-drilled holes (detail to the seller), though it was not too difficult to determine where they should be and the wood is sufficiently soft that there was no danger of splitting.So, with two hiccups right off the bat, why am I giving this chair 5 stars? Because the design is *really* exquisite, simple but oh so comfortable! The seat surface curves just right, and so does the back. While not advertised, you can play with the chain attachment points to change the chair's attitude. However, I found the "factory settings" comfortable enough.The wide arm rests with the built-in cup holders are *so* thoughtful. Ever noticed the skinny, often rounded, arm "un-rests" on other, much fancier and more expensive designs? Maybe they satisfy someone's sense of aesthetics, but comfortable on your arms, they are not. Meanwhile, these armrests are wide enough to put your book on, even your cellphone or -- gasp -- your laptop. And the drink holder is the cherry on top! This chair just beckons you to lounge.Amazon says that other people bought springs and fancier attachments together with this chair. Personally I found the attachments that came with the chair perfectly adequate, so don't think you need anything else.In conclusion , the five stars of this review are for excellent design and high value. Compared to other swing chairs, the product is inexpensive. So if you need to put in some extra effort to decipher the instructions or have to handle some shipping damage (the seller will replace anything broken on demand), I'd just say "suck it up" -- that's why the price is right. Once successfully assembled, the final product is a clear winner over any other design!
