Good video quality and features but gets insanely hot and drains battery fast
Got this front camera and the rear facing A-30 and connected both to the car via the fusebox. The camera gets very hot during normal function, I can't keep a finger on it for long.It stays quite hot even in parking mode; I find it hot to the touch in the morning after the car's been stopped for over 8 hours. As you can imagine, this little radiator consumes a lot of power. I've been using it for a month or so and after not driving the car for 2 days I found the battery completely drained this morning - measuring 5.6 Volts at the battery terminals. It's a 2 year old car, so the battery was in good condition. I got a second identical camera to compare behaviour and it was the same - so it's definitely bad design. The video quality, wireless interface with a smartphone and build quality are very good actually but the appalling power consumption and thermals make this a poor product overall. Definitely steer clear of parking mode and leave it connected only while the engine is on.

Find something else
It bricked itself after running an update. At least a good seller with simple reimbursement policy

Choose a nextbase instead
Previously had a nextbase dashcam in my old car but thought I would give this J85 a go as it is very compact, footage is not as good as the nextbase , I could easily read registration plates of cars coming towards me in the old nextbase but the J85 is not as good at this

Video quality good, everything else terrible
I've used this dashcam for a few years (including to give evidence after an accident) but had to throw it away today. The video recording quality is quite good, especially at night. It blew away the previous WEIRDBRAND 1080p cam. I'm fine with a dashcam without a screen, so long as it records when you need it to, and you can get at the recordings...Now for the bad.The app you need to alter any settings or pull footage to a phone is TERRIBLE; on my current phone it wants all the permissions and barely works at all. Video transfer over wifi using the app is horrendously slow, I think the last time I tried it took over 5 minutes to pull a 2-minute clip, but at least you can pull out the cam and connect to a PC with a USB mini-B cable, or take out the MicroSD card. The built-in driver assistance features are worse than worthless, they're an annoying distraction at best, so are best turned off (requiring the app on your phone to do so). You CAN'T turn off recording your speed, which can only be used against you.(You can remove the GPS module from the cam (by taking it apart) which solves the speed stamp and driver assistance problems, and then it works well as a camera, when it works. Unfortunately the built-in clock fails when not regularly refreshed from GPS, though, and needs to be refreshed by connecting a phone over wifi. If you don't, it thinks the current recording is older than those on the MicroSD card and just doesn't record anything. This problem is only if you modify the cam to remove the GPS, though.)Even if you don't modify the cam; the USB mini-B connector is a weird specialist version with 10 pins (to allow a special cable that both supplies power and feeds footage from the optional rear cam), and it turns out this is fragile. When thermally cycled from hot to cold, like happens to any dashcam, the connector comes unsoldered from the PCB. This started to happen after around 6 months; the dashcam would lose power, sometimes for a few seconds, sometimes until the connector was jiggled or the cam cooled down or warmed up, sometimes until the next day. Luckily I can repair things like this so after figuring out the cause have done that several times now, made very awkward by the weird 10-pin connector. Today I have got sick of doing this same repair so have thrown it away.SO in summary, this dashcam records good footage, but the app is terrible, the extra functions are annoying at best, and (even unmodified) the thing is fragile and started failing after not very long.

Dont buy this dashcam!
I bought it and regret it big time, from app working slow to buttons that does not work properly. Example, you press the Wifi button, its muting the dash cam instead of turning wifi on. If you press two times it will formate you card in a second. Also it get very hot just after a few minutes drive. Its really not worth the money!
