Used these with a trench spade to dig out 25 holes for 4x4 fence posts. They were great for clearing the hole and once I hit clay were also quite good at digging. I wouldn't really recommend them for digging after using the spade but we're worth their weight for clearing out the rubble/clay. Will be my goto foe any other hole that need digging and highly recommended

Small but great value

Its a fair balance between not being a flimsy piece of junk and costing the earth. I've dug many holes around the garden, some that didnt need digging to be honest and its done a great job. I've hit a few hard objects and its not dented or chipped at all.

Easy to use, dig a hole for a fence post in around 10 minutes. A job that used to take me all day now complete in a couple of hours.So far I’ve dug 30 holes with it and no issues.

Used this today and it worked perfectly, saved me so much bother.I am very happy with this product and would recommend it highly.You may need to loosen the soil in the hole first but you can do that using this tool by having a couple of goes into the hole first.Common sense approach works fine.

I have just dug one hole with this in loose soil. Biggest issue was a 3 small stones (2-5cm across); I had to dig these out by hand with a trowel.Does not feel like a heavy duty tool, but fine for the odd hole in the garden.

Bought this as was building a 5meter by 3 meter deck. Which required about 15 holes digging. Items did well but heavy clay soil ment blisters on the hand. You can hire an auger from a tool hire place for a similar price for 2 days which would probably be less back breaking work.

Does the job, what more do you need.
