The book looks absolutely prettiest of the lot. But that isn't it's major pros. Homer was the first western author, this Epic was originally written in Greek around 700BC (maybe older). The book may seem daunting at first but it's been translated very well, it tries to keep the poetic flow and yet keeps it simple to read. This is a good translation to begin with. I've had no problems in understanding the premise behind the two books as I've read about the Greeks and Romans extensivelty. Before picking this up, try to atleast read something about the Greeks and their culture. Will make it easier for you to understand the Gods, Kings , people and the culture that binds them all. Apart from this, you get two books in one, pristine condition, a hardcover and for a very reasonable price. The book is an absolute masterpiece, it opens a gateway to Greek culture. Homer's epics have a huge influence in western culture and that is what makes it a must read!

Beautiful book edition, loved the cover and the binding, the spine is very strong, the back cover looks great too. The page quality is decent and the text is bold and easy to read. The gold colour page spine is a cherry on top.

The book came in really good condition. The print the hardcover and pages are all perfect. And it's a perfect read. Go for it if you are in to Literature and history, Greek mythology.

Black hard bound book with golden words and edges. But language of the book is kind of poetic and complicated. One must be proficient in english to read and understand this book. Good for collection.

This is a translation by Samuel Butler. In historical works like this the translation by a well-known and respected individual is very important. The book is very nice and looks expensive. Paper is on the cheaper side but the cover is rich-looking. Better than other hard bound books by the same publisher.

O livro, anunciado como uma edição de luxo, nao é mais do que uma edição em capa dura bastante simples. Nao se deram ao trabalho de plastificar ou envernizar a capa do livro. O livro chegou com uma batida na lombada (na quina) que descascou o papel da capa! Compro muitos livros na Amazon, que reputo como uma empresa seria, mas dizer que isto é uma" edição de luxo ", é uma inverdade. Ediçoes como os livros da Martin Claret, Antophagica, Companhia das Letras e outras, sao mesmo, algumas delas, ediçoes de luxo, livros para ler, guardar, colecionar,mas nao este que comprei agora. Como ainda não li esta edição, espero mesmo que a tradução seja tao esmerada como diz a Amazon. De ultimas, dou valor a uma edição caprichada porque considero que os livros fazem parte das nossas historias de vida, então o CONTEUDO e a apresentação dever ser os melhores!
