Magpul Rifle Bipod, 1913 Picatinny Rail

I’m just a novice shooting enthusiast and this is my first bipod, just for context with my review. I bought this for my mid-entry-level AR-15, M-LOK. I didn’t want to invest in an expensive bipod, as I am merely a weekend-warrior-enthusiast, not a soldier going to war. Despite the plastic components, the bipod is quite sturdy, plenty sturdy enough for my needs. The plastic keeps the weight down too. My AR-15 is heavy enough as it is! I struggled initially with the installation, until I watched some YT videos and learned you need to set the gap just right with the T-nuts and then the installation was a breeze. Overall I’m very happy with this bipod and it is performing perfectly for my needs.

This bipod is lightweight, durable, and easy to deploy. The adjustable legs provide solid stability on various surfaces. It’s a great value—not a $300 bipod, so it won’t have the same premium features, but it gets the job done well. Installation is simple, and the mounting hardware is included in the box. This is a simplistic polymer bipod with good quality. I think it is great value for the money especially if you catch it on a sale. I purchased the picatinny mount version. The screws for the picatinny rail mount can be manipulated with a coin which is a bonus. The bipod is constructed with a combination of metal and polymer. There is built in play in the legs that is meant to preload your firearm against. The legs extend with the press of a button on each leg. The legs fold out and lock in the down position. There are no other adjustments, they lock strait down only. They do not fold forward of the down position. There is plenty of cant adjustment that can be locked in position with the adjustment knob. The bipod is fairly light in weight and compact in design. I took a star off because of how hard it is to turn the tight picatinny mounting screws. Also, there is no stock way to quick mount or release the bipod from your rifle. Part of this deduction was the lack of total forward or rearward leg position adjustment. One has to keep in mind it is a basic bipod that is meant to get that kind of job done.

I bought the rifle sling mount version for my Ruger 10-22 a year and a half ago. I have used it for varmint removal and bench shooting. It's light easy to use and adjust. There have been zero problems with it and I am happy with the bipod.

This is an exceptional bipod for AR-15s and other rifles under 10 pounds. First and foremost it is extremely light weight. Possibly the lightest on the market with the features it brings to the table. The price is outstanding as well considering the impressive list of capabilities is has. I dare you to find another bipod in this price range that is this light with the ability to cant and pivot the weapon. It has a considerable of flex, and is meant to be "weighted" prior to pulling the trigger by pushing or pulling the gun. The knurled knob is excellent and makes on the fly adjustments easier than getting your dog to eat of bite of steak. When stowed it can be cranked down preventing the pod from moving around. It is not as stable as a Harris with spring loaded legs but to pull of a 11 oz pod with the same features as a Harris sacrifices must be made. The legs adjust super fast with push button retraction and will not fold up when loaded. Not being spring tension legs, you also do not have to worry about unexpected folding and the bloody hands that go along with it. Magpul always comes correct with new products and this is no exception. Just realize the limitations of this pod before buying. This is a light and fast style pod meant long patrols or long humps to that tree stand or final firing position. If you just shooting of the bench at the range there may be better options for you.
