White-hat SEO with black-hat email marketing
The book promotes white-hat SEO, meaning that it discourages using shady techniques and outlines an approach for ranking well that will not get your site banned from Google. So far, so good.Unfortunately, the author doesn't follow his own advice when it comes to email marketing. This book, like many other self-published works, promotes a "free checklist" to improve your SEO that summarizes the content of the book. To get this checklist, you have to go to the author's website and submit your email address. Of course this checklist could easily have been included in the book that the reader already paid for, but that wouldn't allow the author to collect the reader's email for spamming. To get the checklist, you are forced to subscribe to the author's email list. Incidentally, on the author's website, the "you will be subscribed to my list" message is not text, it's an image; this is despite "using images in the place of text" being specifically described as a bad practice in the book itself (which is correct). Also, the email newsletter sent by the author does not have his address information, in violation of the US CAN-SPAM Act.The book's content seemed reasonable enough, but the author's shady marketing related to email is very disappointing.

3.5 stars? Decent coverage, more oriented to business owners
First of all, the fact that the book is self published and has some grammar issues isn't a huge deal for me. I got enough value from the book to cover the purchase price. It's a decent overview for a non-technical audience. What really bothers me is that the author does not follow his own advice for his own website (see attached pics). No HTTP/2, the site menu is broken on mobile, and JS libraries have known security vulnerabilities. These issues ultimately leave me questioning the author's actual expertise, and I will have to evaluate recommendations from the book more carefully ...

This book is the closest thing to SEO truth that exists
I’m a senior web developer and SEO - in the business for 15 years. While I incorporate most of these strategies into my workflow, there is always something new in the mix each year. Algorithms and trends change. I can attest that these are winning methods for improving performance and the likelihood of gaining better search engine rankings. I’ve successfully optimized countless websites and would not go a year without reading the newest edition of this book.

Wonderfully helpful
I've done a lot of blog reading. I've spent hours researching SEO. And yet, Adam's book was filled with a bunch of fresh and helpful content I hadn't read anywhere else. And the content I had already known? Well, now it's in a book I can highlight to my heart's content and reference over and over again. I've already forgotten where I read "x topic" from "random blog" and finding it again is a pain, but with Adam's book in my hands, I've got it all available when I need it.I particularly found the Link Building and Local SEO chapters helpful, and Adam said in the back of the book that he might write a book on those topics if we mentioned them here. Well, a quick check showed that Adam has no other books out.I need more books, Adam! Now, please and thank you.

Fill your head with some SEO knowledge
Great book, especially for beginners like me. It is written in a conversational format that flows easily. I'm not much of a reader and I found this book to be engaging and an easy page-turner. Technical jargon was explained well and there were a TON of resources listed throughout the book to delve deeper into topics of interest or tools of your choice. To me this book opened my eyes to the world of Google's search engine and I learned many things about it that I never knew before or had any idea even existed. But if you're an SEO pro, chances are you already know most of what's in the book. Don't let that discourage you if you dabble though. I thought this book was pretty up to date on info and in the very least one could learn what's coming around the bend, as well as new types of technology. For me, I feel as though I gained a valuable, all encompassing picture of SEO and it will help me to create a strategy to move forward with ranking goals.

Essential SEO Knowledge
If you are looking for an overall review of what's essential for SEO (search engine optimization) in 2020, this book is for you. I have read many books on SEO, and this is one of my favorites. The author provides a significant amount of detail about how to perform SEO, lists of tools, and details about SEO strategies.SEO is a subject that is continually changing, so keeping up with these changes can be a challenge. This book, first released in 2013, has been revised for 2020 to keep everything up-to-date. The book goes through the following aspects of SEO:- Keyword Research- On-Page SEO- How Social Media impacts SEO- Link Building- Web Analytics- Troubleshooting Common SEO Problems- Local SEO- and more. After reading this book, you will have an overall understanding of the essential aspects of SEO. You will also have a comprehensive list of some of the best tools for helping with SEO. Also, you will have access to an SEO checklist to help you decided upon and execute an SEO strategy for any website. This book was an excellent book about SEO (you just need to gloss over some of the typos, mostly noun-verb agreement issues) that will help you no matter where you are in learning and applying SEO tactics.

Not for newbies despite what it says
This book is claiming to be great for people completely new to the process of SEO but it could really benefit from being edited by someone who isn't so close to the subject (and actually having a spell check run on it). I was left with more questions than answers as a lot of topics assumed prior knowledge.

No1 Easy to Read Book On SEO For New or Existing Business Owners.
I'm just starting out as a copywriter. Adam's book was super easy to read. I found Chapter 1 gave me lots of 'A Ha' moments and I felt a lot more confident after reading about its history. It just made so much more sense. Chapter 5 on Social Media and SEO was extremely enlightening I truly hadn't realised how much impact it has on my ranking. Some Chapters towards the end felt a bit overwhelming but I'll leave these until my website has been up an running for a few months. Great read I felt I could trust Adam his bang up to date information ensures my knowledge is current.

Can't give it 5 stars YET!
Picked the book up at lunchtime and paused for a break at 4pm. Super read - in easy accessible language. Endless links to helpful resources tha t should make it easy to understand where you are and what to tackle first. Just wish I'd bought the online version so i didn't need to re-key some of the links. If the rest of the book is as good as the first 80 pages I suspect I'll wish I'd waited and posted the 5 stars.

Great SEO book
Wow, this book is absolutely brilliant and easy to read. Unlike other SEO-related articles I came across before, this book got me hooked and I can confidently say I finally understood how Google and SEO works! Very informative book that tackled important topics such as SEO, the basics around SEO, changes around Google that affected SEO and how-to guides you can try for your website to rank better in Google. It also helped me to find relevant links included in the book as an additional reference. I don’t think there is any other well-written (and updated!) medium out there apart from this book. This book is written in plain text that even an SEO-beginner like me can truly appreciate. It is a must-read and can’t recommend it enough!

Great book that gave amazing results.
A very well-written book. As somebody who was a complete novice to digital marketing and SEO, I gained four times the traffic on my webpage by applying the techniques documented in this book. There were plenty of resources and tricks of the trade detailed that I had not considered using despite reading web guides on the subject. One thing I especially love is that this book cost very little, yet clearly paid for itself with the value it generated for my business.Highly recommend!
