Great Knife with well designed sheath
To start with, this is not one of the knives they have made I China. This one is made in Portland, Oregon.I wanted a knife to work with my backpack/bugout bag. As you probably know, wearing a knife on your belt while carrying a backpack is not a good option. It is hard to get at and/or the waist band grinds it into your side. The sheath that comes with this knife is one of the most flexible designs I have seen. The black Kydex is molded so that the knife snaps in and still has a retaining strap. I use the MOLLE option and mounted the knife inverted on the right strap of my pack. It is out of the way but still easy to get to.The knife is well balanced with a comfortable grip. The full tang ensures that this blade can stand up to heavy use. The blade is 5" and the overall length is 9 7/8". The blade thickness at the hilt is right at 3/16". It came out of the box with a great edge that needed no touch up.My only complaint is a wish that "Made in USA Portland, OR" was stamped in much smaller letters instead of being printed in large type in silver ink.

Excellent value, ergonomics, capability, and durability. And made in the USA!
I purchased this on Amazon for $50.95 with free shipping. It is worth every penny and much more. The handle is ergonomic and very grippy, allowing you to securely use the knife with or without gloves. The knife comes with an excellent modular sheath with many attachment options including molle attachment, horizontal belt wear, and drop leg. If you un-button the nylon retention strap from the nylon belt strap, flip the nylon belt strap around, and re-button it to the nylon retention strap, you will be able to wear the knife low slung drop leg off your belt. I ran some paracord from the bottom two holes in the sheath to secure the sheath to my leg. I find that wearing the knife like this allows me to wear a winter jacket without the jacket interfering with access to my knife. The knife is 7.2 oz in weight. With the sheath, the weight is 10.9 oz. Which is fairly lightweight for such a capable knife. You can save some additional weight by removing the sheath's modular pieces that are not needed for your method of carry. Here is a YouTube torture test video from gideonstactical, that demonstrates the knife's capability and durability: https://youtu.be/d5c0tz9xny0. Basically the knife performs all of the bushcraft tasks without any damage to the knife.I am very happy with my purchase. The Gerber Strongarm is an excellent bushcraft tactical knife.

Rugged blade you can depend on to work when you need it too.
Great knife for the money spent. The sheath system is amazing, I wish more companies would produce similar quality sheaths instead of the cheap nylon ones everyone else includes with their knives. The specs are listed in the product description, so I will not bother repeating them here. I have had mine for a few months, I carry it every day at work mounted to my tactical vest. I have used it on many outdoor trips, camping, while hiking, etc. I have processed a ton of wood with the blade and the finish has held up ok. I have had to re-sharpen it twice, slightly less edge retention than a quality 1095 steel blade will have. No rolling or chipping on the edge. I have started many fires with the knife's spine and a fire steel. I recommend this for Mil, Law Enforcement, Outdoor’s people.

Gerber Nailed It!
Super sturdy! Heavy and balanced! Did not arrive sharp, but was quick to sharpen. The sheath comes with extra pieces and straps that allow it to easily be mounted to nearly anything. I saw a video of someone chopping wood with this knife, by wedging it into the log and then smacking the back of the knife with something else. While it comes with documentation saying that's improper use of the knife, I am certain this knife can withstand this type of use on a fairly regular basis. Great knife!!

it's a good knife but I don't like the micro bevel on the blade the blade loses its sharpness quickly makes it difficult to make good feather sticks and the handle has a lot of hot spots when the Batoning wood and doing other Bushcraft chores

Solid knife for camping and hiking
This is currently my primary knife while camping. There are other more in depth reviews out there, but it holds up to all of the bushcraft tasks I've thrown at it. I've used it for chopping, batoning, prying, carving, and cutting paracord. The sheath is great overall, with a lot of carry options, but the snaps are a bit stiff while still feeling a little insecure and the nylon section is just OK.

Indestructible
I have had two of these knives, I got a knife that was from a bad "batch" and the edge was horrible. My friend and I tried to break it by chucking it at rocks hammering it into logs, chopping rocks, and other tests. Thankfully it didn't fail, from then I requested Gerber for a new blade due to the effective edge and now it rests in my SAR bag.
