a worthy addition to my dvd collection.
It is quite dark but I have grown to appreciate this film. the story telling, the length of the film and the brilliant ending, for me anyway, made this a very worthwhile addition to my collection. I honestly dont see why Warner Bros continues to make live action movies, other than for money. but, it is a shame because the animated movies are in every way, better quality films and this one in particular, shows how a story should be told in film in less than 2 hours.

An emotional punch
An alternative universe tale of sorts that can be viewed as a single movie in itself, but also functions as the beginning of a major continuity shakeup for the animated DC Universe. It's a gritty and violent adventure packed with DCU heroes and villains; some of whom have very little impact on the story, but it's fun to see them included.A knowledge of the Justice League is required, however, in order to fully appreciate how different things are in the featured timeline - to understand the extent of the contrast, you'll need to have some knowledge of how things ought to be normally. The primary protagonist is Flash, the Barry Allen version, as seen front and centre on the cover art.A struggle in the present reminds Barry of a horrific event in his past. It's an incident that he feels could've been prevented, if only he'd had his speedster skills at the time. Wishing the past could be changed for the better is something that everyone has pondered at least once, which makes the crux of the story infinitely relatable. When a major change occurs in his present life, he seeks help from the one man who he feels might really understand his plight. The man in question is a tortured soul who has just as much to gain as he has to lose from Flash's planned outcome, reinforcing the bitter-sweet theme. The movie starts strong and gets better and better as it goes, with a pace befitting its main character. There's a fair amount of comic book / cartoon logic in play, but the ending doesn't take the easy way out, which is its best aspect, and where the emotional punch hits the hardest.

Brilliant
Am not the biggest flash fan but this was brilliant. it has a good story and all the little the differences the pardox made kept me on edge and wishing for there own story. nearly every ones in it from slade to cheetah to black manta but with a slight difference. Well worth a watch

Run a little faster
A DC Comics animated movie, which is an adaptation of the 2011 graphic novel 'Flashpoint.'Barry Allen is the Flash. A pre credits sequence reminds us that his mother was murdered when he was a boy. An event that has never fully stopped affecting him ever since. After an encounter with arch enemy the Reverse Flash, he suddenly finds himself in a rather different world. Where his mother lives. But where he was never the Flash. Where the world is being torn apart by two former heroes now at war. And where Batman is rather different. Can he find out how to fix things? And can he stand on the sidelines as people need his help?Dc animation do manage to be very consistent in the quality of their products, and this is no exception. There's some crisp and colourful animation from the off, which does catch the eye. There is then a surprisingly long pre credits sequence to introduce the Reverse Flash threat. But once this gets going it clicks from the off, because it throws the detail of the new world at the viewer - and the Flash - at just the right pace to maintain the mystery of it and give good surprises and up the action when required. There is a good sense of tension to things as the threat level escalates, and there some great character moments for the supporting players. This world's Batman is an original and good take on the character. And through it the sheer decency and heroism of Barry Allen shines through. As it should for the character. There is a certain dramatic licence to the final big reveal, but the film just about gets away with it anyhow. And there is a nice central moral to the whole tale. There are some regular dc voice stars in the cast, such as Batman Kevin Conroy, and Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern. But as ever, the rest of the voice casting is spot on.This is a twelve certificate dvd, as there is a fair bit of sometimes graphic violence in here, so it's not for the younger kids.Do keep watching to the very end of the final credits. It is another good animation from a studio who are very good at producing them. The disc has the following language and subtitle options:Languages: English, French, Hungarian.Subtitles: English, French, Hungarian. The only extra is one of the usual for these sneak peek previews of an upcoming release. Which use talking heads and unfinished animation and comic book images to review a forthcoming release. In this case, 'Justice League: War.' Which actually came out in 2013, but then so did this originally.
