It allows for airflow with out the coal touching the aluminum foil so it takes longer for the shisha to burn out

Bad idea
It doesn’t work. Even if you put the coal directly on the foil first and then put this on the foil with the coal on top. It cools the shisha too much and then no smoke comes out.
