The Yummy Mummy Kitchen: 100 Effortless and Irresistible Recipes to Nourish Your Family with Style and Grace

Good so far
I am in my late 20s, and newly married. My husband and I eat lean healthy homemade meals with vegetables playing the largest role.I will have to disagree with some of the review thus far. I don't think this book is the GREATEST cookbook ever written but I also don't think this cookbook is time consuming full of complex recipes kids won't like.At this point in time I have tried Slow Cooker Veggie-Loaded Marinara, Baked Spaghetti Squash and "Meatballs," Lentil Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms, and Green Enchiladas. I made a few modifications like homemade turkey meatballs and Acorn squash (spaghetti squash unavailable at the time) in the Baked Spaghetti Squash. The other recipes I completed as written. Each of these I would make again. I have tried many recipes on Marina's blog and none have let me down so far. I am confident that more of the recipes in this book will uphold the same standard.I find the ingredient lists to be short and sweet. The time it takes to complete the recipes seems normal to me and works during the week. I don't have kids but I did grow up in a large family. My family would probably not choose to eat half of the recipes in this book but that's because they are from Kentucky and grew up eating differently. I guarantee they would enjoy the food cooked from this book if they were blindfolded. I gave this book to a friend who has two boys under three. Based on how she has raised them, those boys would be willing to try any of these recipes, even endives. No, this cookbook isn't for everyone, but what cookbook is? People have their own style and tastes. That's just the way it is. I have yet to find a go-to cookbook. I will try to cook out of this one once a week.I didn't care for all the pages with "Life-Tips" in the cookbook. I enjoyed reading and learning more about the author, but with limited space for cookbooks I would have rather had fewer Life Tips and more recipes. The photography is great! The layout of the book is easy to read. If Marina comes out with another cookbook, you bet I will be purchasing it.If you're debating the purchase, I say go for it! If you're still debating, check out Marina's blog and you will be convinced ! =)

Ok Cookbook, but recipes definately are not "Effortless"
This cookbook is ok, but it does not stand out from other cookbooks in my opinion. The recipes, while interesting, are not the kind of foods most kids would gobble up, let alone try. It also seems that many of the recipes are very time consuming and have a long list of ingredients, not quite the "effortless" recipes that the title suggests. In addition, many of the recipes have ingredients that the average person will not have on hand such as Goat Cheese, Truffle Oil, Gorgonzola Cheese, Humboldt Fog cheese, Burrata cheese balls, Champagne Vinegar, Jarlsberg Cheese, Gruyere Cheese, Mascarpone Cheese, Pasteurized Dried Egg Whites, etc. This is definately not a cookbook that you could use on a weeknight after getting home from work. I will definately be trying many of the recipes on the weekends when I have more time for cooking, but don't be fooled into thinking that the recipes are in any way "effortless" or "quick and easy". I believe another reviewer mentioned something to that effect. I find it suspicious that this cookbook has received only 5 star reviews thus far and many of the reviewers have never left reviews for any other products on Amazon. Many also are not shown as being Verified Purchasers of this book. The reviews are so over the top with lots of exclamation points, capitalized words, people offering to send one to your doorstep if you don't believe their glowing review, etc. that I am suspicious of them. That being said, this cookbook is nice...many pictures and little tidbits of advice, and I very much appreciate the abundance of meatless recipes. Would I purchase this cookbook again? Probably not. However, since I have already, I will try to put it to use on the weekends when I have more time to cook for my family.

!
As a longtime fan of [...] I knew that someday Marina would write a killer cookbook. She certainly didn't disappoint. The Yummy Mummy Kitchen is full of stunning photos and delicious (easy!) recipes that will knock your socks off. This is the only cookbook I've ever owned that I literally read cover-to-cover in one sitting. It's that good. Many times I find myself purchasing cookbooks that contain recipes that are way out of my league. I flip through the pages and try to convince myself that I WILL, this time, make the complicated recipe filled with the ingredients I never buy. It never happens. My favorite part of The Yummy Mummy Kitchen is that every single recipe is something that I will - honestly - make! Marina uses wholesome, healthy ingredients to create her unique and beautiful dishes. (Did I mention that her photos are stunning? Magazine quality, no joke.)Trust me when I say that this book is a masterpiece that should be in every kitchen. The Yummy Mummy Kitchen will make a food-lover out of everyone and inspire even the most reluctant chef to get into the kitchen. If you don't believe me, I just may have a copy delivered to your porch to show you what you're missing.
