Handy little steam cleaner
It's important to realize the purpose of this tool. It's a portable hand steam cleaner, it's not an industrial cleaner - don't expect it to clean that way. That being said, this has exceeded my expectations. We have predominantly used this in the bathroom so far where we have cleaned grout, ceramic surfaces and our metal radiator. Using an old toothbrush and this steamer, it's really satisfying to watch mildewy water run off the grout. It's also been incredibly effective at removing hardwater buildup on our sink, toilet and shower head. What used to take several minutes of soaking with vinegar just wipes away with a towel after blasting it with steam. The cleaner is very easy to use, you just add water, plug it in, wait about two minutes and start cleaning. It has several different attachments including nylon and brass brush heads, a flexible attachment that allows me to get in tight places, and an extra long cord that makes it easy to move around. Overall, I am so happy I received this for Christmas as it has eliminated cleaning tasks that used to require spray cleaner and a lot of elbow grease to clean.

Worked poorly, then broke
This steam cleaner does not have much power and the steam is not very hot. While using it, you often have to stop and wait for the pressure to build up again even when the tank still has water in it. You also have to refill the tiny tank about every 15 minutes. It works pretty well on very small jobs such as blowing out and sanitizing small crevices (such as around faucets or in your car's interior) but don't expect it to be able to clean an oven, bathtub, or toilet. It would probably be fairly good at cleaning jewelry. Mine broke after a couple of months, so now I can't use it even for the small jobs. I feel like I wasted my money on this product. I replaced it with a "dry steam" cleaner with more pressure and a larger tank as I do really like the way steam cleans and sanitizes.

Know what you're getting
Steam cleaners have their place but you should know their limitations. They basically spray a very tiny stream so if you're cleaning a large surface (like a sink or countertop, for instance) it's going to take forever. And you have to wipe off the surface afterwards to remove the water/dirt that's left behind. But the benefit is that you won't have to use chemicals. That's great for people with asthma or with pet birds, etc.I did a lot of research before purchasing this unit. A lot of the competitor's brands don't get hot enough to actually sanitize, but supposedly this one does. (Don't know how you'd be able to prove it, though). But it did leave the surfaces I cleaned more "clean" looking than usual. On my countertop & glass cooktop there were no streaks like when I used chemicals before. The toilet looks cleaner than from just spraying with chemicals but you still have to wipe off the nasty water as the steamer will "rehydrate" whatever dirt is present, which tended to send a cloud of really stinky pee scented steam in my face in the kid's bathroom. It didn't work well on a grimy kitchen sink (the pressure wasn't enough to blast off any caked on dirt or soap.) Ditto with mess on bird cages. But it works well on surfaces that are not too dirty/caked to begin with.As for the particular unit, I found the extension hose the only tool that would allow me to reach what I needed to clean. If you just hold the unit without the extension hose you'll tire your hand & you won't be able to reach most areas because you're not supposed to tip the unit. It's best to leave it sitting on the counter & use the extension hose, except that you have to hold down the button on the unit itself with your other hand. That can be awkward. I suppose you could tie a string around it to hold the button down, but after a few minutes you lose pressure while the unit re-heats. It seems that other brands I researched have similar limitations. Another disappointment is that you can't tell how full the water tank is, and you're supposed to empty all water before putting the unit away.So you'll get a good clean as long as you know it's going to take a very long time and you'll have to wipe up loads of water. But if you have a problem with using chemicals this is one alternative.

I decided to buy a better one and the Pronto has already proved itself
The Pronto is my second steamer. I purchased a Shark first. I became a fan of cleaning with steam and was genuinely sorry when I knocked the Shark off the counter and broke the nozzle off. I decided to buy a better one and the Pronto has already proved itself. It has a much larger capacity and can steam for a much longer period. I've used it for all sorts of cleaning including all surfaces in the bathroom including the shower door, the kitchen, outdoor furniture, etc. The first thing to decide is whether you want to clean with steam. It eliminates using chemicals. I was sold on cleaning with steam when I worked on the microwave/exhaust fan that had a build up of grease on the top of the microwave. The steam took care of it and I won't let that happen again. I also like using the steamer to remove spots on carpets.

Good but have proper expectations
Best portable steamer I've every used by far. With that being said these aren't the best for getting wrinkles out. I'd you're looking for a steamer to clean with then you should probably spend another $500. Again, this is the best portable steamer ive ever used but these really are not at all great for cleaning. Is steam hot? Sure it is, water has to reach 212 F to turn into steam. With that being said I've never seen a steamer get hot enough to disinfect or get hot enough to beat a bucket of water in the cleaner department. Sure you're applying 212F steam but the second you pull away it's cold to the touch. Im sure you can disinfect with this, and they canake that claim; however i would be curious as to how long you need to apply a continous spray of steam to the site (which they dont recommend). So in short o was looking for a great steamer (which is what this) for removing wrinkles from my cloths and to assist in cleaning, but i was very underwelmed in both situations.
