I needed something that was sturdy and "escape proof", so I stumbled across these and ordered a 9x9x24. When it arrived I was anxious to test it out. I tested it against several other popular styles, and the numbers are in after a 12hr soak. The torpedo traps, zero, the square ramp style, zero. This thing when I pulled it up was FULL, over 45. I am convinced these traps are powered by voodoo, I am ordering more and replacing the old ones. These traps are a game changer!

Works great kids caught over 130 in 3 nights. But I wish there was a trap door cause they could crawl back out.

I use hundreds of these traps for a commercial crawfish operation. I've used every type of trap and these are the best. Mine are slightly modified for productivity but as shipped they are still more productive from a catching and checking aspect. The tunnel is exactly the right shape for a balance of holding and catching.Not worth having a door on the tunnel they can still get through the door when other crawfish come in.I've found lost traps over a year later and there's still catch in them. Can't say that about any other trap.I'd suggest replacing zip ties with ones that are heavier duty (metal tab).When you have hundreds they stack nicely being square. Any crawfish trap working in flowing conditions needs to be symmetrical as it will tumble and roll when it hits the bottom (square shape is nice for that reason)As for Protoco small family business located in the USA great to work with. If your worried about how expensive these are one thing is always true in life "You get what you pay for" and the second thing is manufacturing in the USA is not the cheapest compared to other places in the world.

You cannot see it from the picture (or at least I couldn't) but the pieces are held together by zip ties and tubing for the latch.I still think it is a good product and is much bigger than expected.Pros:Large, bait holder, large entrance holesCons:large mesh for bait holder(don't put worms in it, try minnows or larger), expensive, orange part is plastic.Yay or Nay?: Overall I would get it, but try to modify the bait holder mesh to make it smaller.

This trap works very well for crayfish! Caught plenty and they dont crawl out unless the trap is full, which is a good problem to have. Highly recommend!

Product is well built but the 1 inch by 1/2 inch walls compared to the size of the entrance doesn't catch much. Plus the ends sometimes don't line up with cage leaving even bigger gaps.
