From our home in Norway, Helly Hansen has been making professional grade gear to help people stay and feel alive for more than 140 years. It all started in 1877 when sea captain Helly Juell Hansen found a better way to stay protected from the harsh Norwegian elements. Soon thereafter, Captain Hansen and his wife Margrethe launched a business producing waterproof oilskin jackets, trousers, sou’westers and tarpaulins made from coarse linen soaked in linseed oil – and the legend was born!

Light but warm
This replaces a decade-old LL Bean insulated parka that is very warm. I use it for skiing with just a cotton long sleeve t-shirt. So far I've tried the Helly Hansen coat for walks at various temperatures. It keeps me warm with the same Tshirt even down to 25f which gives me hope it will be fine for skiing (I'll update later). Update: 22f and cloudy but stayed warm while skiing with just a long sleeve shirt and bib snow pants. It has plenty of pockets. I like that the chest pocket zipper is super smooth for quick access to your cell phone. The main zipper is swapped from what I'm accustomed to (the pull is on the left side) - seems like a trend lately. I have another cycling coat that is similar. This coat fits very well. I'm 5'11" 190lbs and a large is pretty good. The sleeves are maybe a tiny bit long but not an issue. The collar does have some warm fleece for keeping your face warm but it's not as snug as I had hoped. I'll probably wear a balaclava. Neck can get cold while skiing without a gaiter since it is roomy when zipped at the top.Lastly the "alert red" is a bit orangey. I would have preferred the normal red (which is also sold) but it was $120 more.

the best ski Jacket
This jacket is the best ski jacket available on the Market. It is very hard to find, and for this price, even harder. Very "good looking" jacket, top quality, and available in different colors and sizes. This seller is a great seller. Was packed extremely well, and arrived fast. Extremely recommend.

Feature packed jacket and oh so comfortable !!
This jacket is super comfortable, warm and packed with useful ski features. I’m 5’7” 190lbs and the large fits me perfect. I was teetering between the HH alpha lifaloft and this HH alpha 3.0 but decided to give this jacket a try because it appeared that the only major difference was the insulation technology and this jacket was on sale for almost half the price when I purchased it. It appears the lifaloft also has a few minor cosmetic differences and a vent on the back but not much else. I absolutely love this jacket and am so happy I chose it. I know I would have been happy with either one but I couldn’t beat the price. I have a few other HH products and am impressed with each one. HH has great quality, technology, fit and style which I can confidently vouch for since I own a few of their products and frequently put through the paces during strenuous outdoor activities. Buy this jacket, you won’t be disappointed!

Kept me warm & dry
My old ski jacket of over 10 years was falling apart & I needed a new one. I bought this and used it for several ski trips this past season. It kept me warm & dry even on bitterly cold and rainy days. It was a little too warm on one Spring day where it was in the 60's, but that's usually not the problem when on snow. O haven't had a chance to, and I hope I never need to, use the avalanche reflector, but it is nice piece of mind knowing it's there.

Awesome
Very warm even with the pit zips open, a bit expensive . The Zippers could be made a bit stronger, pit zips have a cheap zipper in them fragile.

Quality built, very warm/water proof performance ski jacket.
This jacket checks all the boxes for a high performance insulated ski jacket. It is now my go to jacket for in bounds/resort skiing. I have now tested it in wet snow and Very cold (-8 F) conditions and was completely dry and comfortable. The well sealed seams, quality zippers and powder skirt inside around the waist all work extremely well to keep the wind and snow out. It is also soft, flexible and light weight which makes it very comfortable for all day skiing and chair lift riding. The "Life Pocket" really did seam to preserve my phone battery life on cold days while running a resort app with GPS to track my ski stats. Best insulated jacket I have ever skied with in 45 years of gear testing. Bonus: My partner says it looks very good also. Should have bought it sooner.

This is my absolute favorite jacket ever!!!
I bought this jacket for a trip to Wisconsin, and had read both good and bad reviews... but once I received it, I knew I'd made a good decision. It is so incredibly comfortable and well-balanced. It just feels good to wear and kept me comfortable whether I was in 25 degree snow-blown craziness or a 60 degree mild morning. I love all of the pockets. The zippers function well. There are ventilation options on this thing that I haven't gotten to use yet, but I'm sure they will prove to be inline with the quality I've experienced so far.If you're traveling and are looking to take just one jacket to keep you warm and dry in variety of climates, this is the one. I'm very happy with my purchase.
